My liver is giving me hell from all these pharmaceutical drugs.
Can people recommend their favorite NON-pharmaceutical (herbal) treatments for Lyme disease? They can be anti-bacterial or immune-stimulating, or any other kind of treatment.
One request though: I'm looking for BORRELIA treatments, not treatments for parasites or co-infections. I've already been there done that.
Thanks...

- When considering herbal / nutritional / adjunct methods:
if at all possible - because each person & each case is different - it's best to consult with an ILADS-educated LL ND (lyme literate naturopathic doctor) (or similar) who has completed four years of post-graduate medical education in the field of herbal and nutritional medicine -
- and someone who is current with ILADS' research & presentations, past and present, and has completed the ILADS Physician Training Program (see: www.ilads.org )
Many LL NDs incorporate antibiotics (depending upon the licensing laws in their state). Some LLMDs and LL NDs have good working relationships.
When possible, it's great to have both a LLMD and LL ND and even better when they have a long-standing professional relationship.
Integrative / Holistic M.D., etc. (Be aware that those in this category can have various levels of formal herbal &/or nutritional education, perhaps even just a short course. Do ask first.)
Links to many articles and books by holistic-minded LL doctors of various degrees who all have this basic approach in common:
Understanding of the importance of addressing the infection(s) fully head-on with specific measures from all corners of medicine;
knowing which supplements have direct impact, which are only support and which are both.
You can compare and contrast many approaches.

- " immune-stimulating" is not a good idea for anyone with chronic lyme. Immune modulation, is, however. There is a big difference.
MEDICINAL MUSHROOMS can help with immune support & modulation.
Also search LymeNet Achives. Many past threads. -

I like Andrographis. Protects and helps the liver, in addition to being anti-spirochetal. Also, helps prevent viral infections (such as colds/flu), and has anti-cancer properties.

Cat's claw and Wobenzym (systemic enzymes). The systemic enzymes reduce the fibrin in the blood and strip biofilm, exposing bacteria. The cat's claw stimulates the white blood cells to phage (eat) bacteria.
Berberine is antibacterial. I've been taking it since last summer, and I have several improvements, such as decreased headache, no more gastritis or inhaling stomach contents when sleeping.
Wikipedia has a good write-up about Berberine, and Keebler and Marnie have posted extensively about it.
You can find info online about using cat's claw for Lyme.

I used the Cowden Condensed for Lyme by Nutramedix for 8 months and it cured me. I was amazed. Now my daughter is on it for Lyme and Bartonella and it's doing a great job with her too.
