Just got back from primary's office, have been having trouble with upper gi burning, from stomach to liver and radiating around the back, and up between the shoulder blades.

Was given a copy of my ultrasound report and told it was normal. Now I get home and read it and it said that about the kidneys, doesn't sound normal to me. Also notes that no definite mass, cyst or hyponephrosis is seen.

I can't detox anyway, have poor liver detox ability and hla testing shows poor detox genes. If something gets worse with my kidneys, i'm in trouble.

Any thoughts? Also my primary doc is in the "you have ms" camp, not a believer in chronic lyme.

Renal hyperechoic foci are usually kidney stones.
However, I found an article about this in which the patient actually had calcified blood vessel walls instead.

Renal arterial branch calcification mimicking renal calculi in ultrasonography
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2845194/

Calcification of blood vessels happens when we are low in magnesium.
The body pulls calcium from the bones because the cells need magnesium for all the enzyme processes, and substitutes calcium instead.

With the increased level of calcium in the bloodstream, some of it deposits on the blood vessel walls...resulting in hardening of the arteries.

You should be supplementing magnesium to help stop this process.
There is a supplement called Break-stone that can help, chanca piedra.
Check iHerb.com for products and reviews.

I can vouch for chanca piedra!! AND the need for magnesium!!

I just found a miracle product called Re-Mag... Google it and BUY it! NOTHING works like this product! It costs about $20 a month.

thanks for the info, I do use magnesium lotion since I have trouble with oral mg(chronic inflamed gi tract)do you think that's good enough? I notice the remag has other minerals in it too.

thanks too for the article, i'll keep a copy to discuss with my md next time, then see about the chanca piedra.

So great to get good info here that mds just don't seem to know or have time to give.

I do not think you can get enough from a lotion. Just my opinion. Details:

Be sure to avoid Ibuprofen as even a regular dose can be very hard on the kidneys - it constricts circulation and that can lead to hardening and other issues.

Supplements will not replace the need for magnesium. Often a comprehensive approach is necesary. Best to find a LL ND if you can. Links to find a LL ND are in the Liver & Kidney support thread.

To help heal GI tissue (while ALSO addressing causes with a doctor who understands, such as your LLMD. You say your GP does not see the big picture, then you need someone who does):

The Promise of Low Dose Naltrexone Therapy:

Potential Benefits in Cancer, Autoimmune, Neurological and Infectious Disorders

- by Elaine A. Moore & Samantha Wilkinson

WEBSITE: http://www.lowdosenaltrexone.org/

Some LLMDs and LL NDs know all about LDN as it's been very helpful to about half of those with lyme who have used it.
