my friend lois has fibro. ok I believe its lyme but the drs at the fibro clinic have convinced her it's fibro. plus she believes if you're not a doctor or god then you don't know squat.
so this duck tells her to drink a beer or glass of red wine every evening.
duhhhhh...
doesn't alcohol turn to sugar? and I can't believe they say she's bipolar and she's medicated out the wazoo, they tell her to drink.
isn't alcohol bad for lyme?

That's probably not wise in her case. I think a glass of wine is great IF you don't have Lyme and IF YOU DON'T HAVE CANDIDA.
I'd be willing to bet that she has one or both of those.
oh... and mixing alcohol with bipolar meds is really dangerous ..

yeah I thought so too. you should see her kitchen counter. she takes more prescriptions than I do vitamins!!!

NO alcoholic Anything IF you are "recovering" from Lyme & are under treatment. A little wine with your meal, after you've gotten a handle on the Lyme, is O.K. As for a beer every day... if he knows she's on all sorts of meds... He's "quacky"!

If you saw her counter you'd be amazed she can function at all.

I tested myself with a glass of rum. I felt a little whoozy, dizzy, & then sleepy, but that is it.
Nothing like the major reactions that I have heard from others & nothing post drinking either. Tried this 2-3 times & had the same results. It actually helped put me to sleep.
I don't recommend this to anyone, I just wanted to see what happens.

I don't think that a glass or 2 of a good white or red wine will be anyone's demise. Yes, it's sugar and of course candida needs to be addressed.
Just sayin' that we all should enjoy and embrace life's celebrations! And if that entails a Champagne toast, so be it!

The doc sounds like he's from the '50s. I know someone who's mom was told to drink wine every night when she was pregnant to calm her nerves.
I had 23andme testing and ran it through promethease.
I'm something like 12 times more likely to have liver disease if I drink. I'm avoiding booze with or without Lyme.

If you have a CBS mutation, and most chronically ill people do, then wine is really bad for you because it is full of sulfur. I love the taste of wine but way before I had Lyme, if I drank a glass of it, I would stay awake all night and get a horrible migraine that lasted for days.
Every Lyme doctor I know of says not alcohol. More than likely that doctor believes she is a hypochondriac and if she is drunk, then she won't be complaining so much.
Fibromyalgia can also be caused from toxins like the heavy metals in tobacco. My daughter has an allergy to nickel. When she was a teen ager she smoked and her allergy went through the roof. It caused really bad fibro. When she quit, it went away.
