I have fungus on two nails only. I am using kerasil. Should I treat all my nails or just the two? Can it spread to the other nails?

Randibear, I am not familiar with kerasil. I would treat all the nails. With mine, it started with the two big toes. I have also heard, but don't know its effectiveness, about a type of laser light treatment done in a podiatrists office. I have used and continue to use tea tree oil. If I can remember, I use it twice a day on the nail and around the nail. If you can and can avoid the ticks, I would go out onto the patio or deck wearing flip flops and get as much sun onto my feet as possible.

Tea tree oil can do the trick but do it on all your toes.

Tea tree oil is excellent. It may take 8-12 weeks to work fully, so be patient with it.

Personally, I would not use the same applicator on the non-infected nails. Wouldn't want to spread the fungus.

I opted for the laser treatment with my podiatrist - it was a few years ago, but it seemed to help some.

I've also been taking diflucan on and off, which is also very helpful.

But I've also modified my diet completely, in order to minimize candidiasis - little/no starch or yeast, no sugar.

For those using tea tree oil, could you tell me how you are using it, and if you think it's better than GSE? I talked to my doc just yesterday about problems I'm having with a couple nails, and she said that type of thing is almost always fungus, so suggested vinegar and/or tea tree oil and/or GSE.

If this is going to go on for some weeks, I'd prefer something I can just apply rather than needing to mix with a certain amount of water, then soak, blah blah blah...

Michael, about 2 drops each nail and spread it around with q-tip so it coats each nail, make sure you do the skin around the nail, too. Use a different q-tip for each toe, so if you are doing it proactively and previously medicated a toe with fungus, you aren't transferring the infection to a new, uninfected toea and toenail.
