Thursday is my first appointment with my LLMD. I'm really nervous because its a three hour drive and I don't know what to

expect. do they generally just do testing on the first appointment or will they begin to treat you right away. the thing I'm most

nervous about is the herx because I feel so bad right now I'm so scared to feel worse. any stories or any support would be helpful thank you.
.
My other question is if any one has chest pain whay does it feel like. I have been having sharp pains in my left chest all morning.

You should get a lot of information on your 1st visit - Make sure you have a list of everything you'd like to discuss with your doctor.

Chest pains---they are very, very, very common with Lyme disease. They can come and go, different degrees of pain depending on the person, everyone is different.

Ive had chest/heart pains for 6/7 years now. Sometimes they last (2-3) months, sometimes they last (3) or (4) days. (Most of the times for me it feels like a heart attack. No one can tell you when to see a doctor, or go to the ER. You have to use your best judge, be careful!

Talk to your doctor about herxing, its part of the treatment process.

Good luck on Thursday, and make sure you bring your question list!!!

Really depends upon WHO you are seeing. They may go ahead and treat you based on symptoms.

The herxing is bad, but at least you'll know you're headed UP!

and... some never herx!

A good LL doctor will have you on liver support so that you can better tolerate the treatment:

LIVER & KIDNEY SUPPORT & and several HERXHEIMER support links, too.

URGENT CARE, now?

If these stabbing chest pains are new to you, call your doctor now. It could be something else.

And, yet, stabbing pain all over the body can be very common with lyme. Magnesium is your number one helper if this is from muscle spasms or inflammation.

Be sure you tell the LLMD at that first appointment, too, even if they subside.

Evaluate yourself.
Are you having any trouble breathing?
Are your lips and nailbeds pink?

Take your pulse for one minute.
Check your temperature with a thermometer.

Do you get chest pain when exerting yourself?
If so, does it subside when you rest?

I doubt this is a heart attack, but people get angina, or heart pain, when the heart muscle isn't getting enough oxygen.

Take all of your lyme tests with you. Also take a very complete list of your symptoms. Have it in writing. Don't trust your memory. The symptom list is extremely important.

Based on your test results and your symptoms, some lyme doctors will start you on treatment. A doctor who is afraid of losing his license may not. He may want a CDC positive lyme test before he treats.

You can call and ask if the doctor will treat without a CDC positive test. If they answer you, then you will know what is going to happen tomorrow.

Worry about things in a certain order. Right now, worry that you won't get treatment or that it won't be good treatment. Once you are on good treatment, in a few days you will either herx or not. If you herx, be happy. That proves that you have lyme disease! If the herx gets too bad, you just stop the meds for a few days.

I wish you the very best.
