Maybe you could follow the pregnancy treatment for a tick bite.
From page 19 of Burrascano:
"TICK BITES - Embedded Deer Tick With No Signs or Symptoms of Lyme (see appendix):
Decide to treat based on the type of tick, whether it came from an endemic area, how it was removed, and length of attachment (anecdotally, as little as four hours of attachment can transmit pathogens). The risk of transmission is greater if the tick is engorged, or of it was removed improperly allowing the tick's contents to spill into the bite wound. High-risk bites are treated as follows (remember the possibility of co-infection!):
1) Adults: Oral therapy for 28 days. 2) Pregnancy: Amoxicillin 1000 mg q6h for 6 weeks. Test for Babesia, Bartonella and Ehrlichia. Alternative: Cefuroxime axetil 1000 mg q12h for 6 weeks. 3) Young Children: Oral therapy for 28 days.

Thanks.
I didn't see the tick, but was told it was tiny....so I'm assuming it was a deer tick.
I'm just trying to figure out what the best combo of meds would be to cover him.
Can Amox be taken at the same time with Bactrim DS? Or would Zith be just as good?
Maybe Amox, Zith and ART as Boxermom has said.
I hate to slam his gut, but better to be on the safe side.
How long would you treat? And can I trust doc to know correct doseages?
Thanks, Tammy

Absolutely not, unless it's an LLMD! If not an LLMD, and the doc won't give the correct doses, there are always the other options for meds (fish meds).

Can someone PM me correct doses for kids. He's 14, and 145lbs.
I want to make sure he is on the best combo to cover him.

Thanks Lymetoo. I don't think the tick was removed properly. The tick died in the process, so I think it was probably squeezed (hopefully not while fully attached, but who knows??).
Still trying to get clear on doseages and duration.

I saw your post about your child's recent tick bite. I am in the same situation, however my child is 9. Did you find an LLMD and/or find the right abx and dosing? If so could you send me any info you received?
I am in Texas and the dr we are seeing is not an LLMD and my son was put on amox. He's been on it for about 24 days now, the percribtion will run out in about 2 more weeks.
Does your son have any symptoms? Mine just had a very small rash that disappeared in 3 days but has not had any other symptoms, so I'm torn over whether to continue treating, but am affraid if I don't it could become chronic later.
Any advice you have I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, KH
