In the past my eyes have cleared with Rifampin/Zithro or adding Doxy. I am on Rifampin and IVs for Rocephin and Flagy for a month now. My eyes are burning, scratching, itcjing crust in morning, huge bags under eyes bags that sometimes look dark and go around my whole eyes at times. I never in my life before I got sick had a puffy eye or a circle evn when sick or tired. So this is worse than I have ever had. Eyes are never red though, but are blurry alot of the time. They look small and dull colored , whites aer not white and blue not blue. I always have a top of head headache and swollen glands right now also.

I am wondering if the Rifampin is not working this time because it doesn't have anything eslse to help the Bart thrown in or if it is Babs. I really have none of the typical Babs symptoms.

I called my LLMD to tell her about this for my upcoming appointment and get her ready to tackle this. , but any of your help will be great also.

I appreciate it, thank you.

I always get stingy blurry eyes when I'm low on B12. It will go away when I give myself a shot. I've heard of others that get the eye thing when low on B12 too.... Just one idea to look at.

Flagy:
Call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:

numbness or tingling in your hands or feet;

white patches or sores inside your mouth or on your lips;

pain or burning when you urinate;

diarrhea that is watery or bloody;

vision problems, pain behind your eyes;

trouble concentrating, slurred speech, mood or behavior changes, tremors, muscle twitching, seizure (convulsions);

fever, chills, muscle pain, confusion, headache, sore throat, neck stiffness, increased sensitivity to light, drowsiness, nausea and vomiting; or

severe skin reaction -- fever, sore throat, swelling in your face or tongue, burning in your eyes, skin pain, followed by a red or purple skin rash that spreads (especially in the face or upper body) and causes blistering and peeling.

It could also be a herx reaction to the rocephin

Thank you. I had these symptoms I explained before the meds came on board. I feel like a co-infection is not getting hit. I have Bart and not sure if this could be Babesia since eyes are looking ugliest in years and if I am not on enough Bart abx or what. My Lyme symptoms are really the only things that are slightly better. The 2 eye sypmtoms always responded to Bart abx in the past and never Lyme meds. I am puzzled.

Cattail, are you seeing an eye doctor? Eye exams are very important for those with lyme & co.

Your sx could be from inflammation. Inflammation is part of the whole or any part of the body, including the eyes.

You want to make sure the very important part of the inside of your eyes is not showing damage. Eye issues can and will improve even if there is signs of damage today.

I remember having vision rx changes as much as three times in one year. I even had a dx of macular degeneration early into illness & tx.
Dry eyes is a typical sx also.

All of these improved eye issues disappeared with time. I still continue to have regular eye exam looking for signs of trouble.

It took years for swelling around outer eyes, dark circles, itchiness and drainage to improve.

Symptoms cycling, improving and cycling again is pretty typical. LLMD is good for treatment. An eye specialist priceless.

Hmm, I have the top of head headache and the swollen glands too. Could be bart flaring/herxing?

I also have none of the "typical" babs symptoms.

My top of head headaches and swollen galnds always went away with Rifampin / Azithromycin or also with Doxy / Rifampin / Azithromycin. This is bartonella treatment. It seems like mine could be still out of control right now and flaring.

Ok, I have an appointment in 2 weeks with a LL Eye Dr.

The eyes get worse by the week now. LLMD thinks it is yeast, but no improvement on diet of 2 weeks of nothing but protien and veggies, very strict and Nystatin. Eyes are worse.

Need input please. They are itching, burning, scratchy, blurry, and had got bags out of nowhere make in March and they got blueish a few months ago and now it is a puffy dark ring around each eye and dark! I look and feel horrible in the eyes. None of my other symptoms anywhere in my body are this bad. Anyone have an idea for me?

I am beginning to think it is a co-infection. I have Babs and Bart.

Thanks for any help.
