I have Neuro Lyme Disease and take five different strong antibiotics for this which are Atovaquone/Progquanil, Azithromycin, Acyclovir, Flucoazole and am also on psychiatric meds which are Wellbutrin, Cymbalta, Lithium, Ambien and Clonazepam only when needed. I have had pretty significant tremors in hands (worst), arms, legs, and jaw for about two weeks. I have a real hard time typing or eating, carrying a drink etc. I've notified my Dr. treating me for Lyme and also my Psyc Dr. of this condition and my psyc Dr. wants to put me on a "wash Out" for a while and see what happens. I'm really scared to do this, I mean... I hear that you should never just abruptly stop taking Psyc meds cold turkey or without notifying Dr. Dr. only prescribes for the most part and won't be there for me if I have a major sink with my depression, and could take days before he would reply to my messages. I really have a suspicion that these tremors are related to my neuro lyme damaging my central nervous system, parkinsons or something related to that. My Lyme Dr. added the 5th antibiotic of Cefuroxime to see if that helps, has only been a few days but no difference as of yet. Additionally I read an article on how Lyme can imitate Parkinson's Disease (puttinglymebehindyou.wordpress.com2011/05/27/lyme-disease-and-parkinsons) I wanted to see what advice you may have on "wash out" and if anyone has ever experience a similar situation. Thanks in advance for your comments.

Hi, I don't know anything about washout, or psych meds, so I can't help you with that.
But I want to share with you, that when I add or change my lyme abx, I get tremors. Mostly on my left side and my head. It makes it hard to eat drink and kiss because the muscles in my face tremor also.
And sometimes, it also affects the muscles in my torso and mimics the motions of a seizure, except I'm awake and conscious.
So for me, on zero psych meds, I get tremors from lyme, especially when I change meds or increase doseage.
Best of luck Others will chime in soon

- Tremors are often toxicity related and many psych drugs can increase the body's toxic load. And many of those who deal with lyme simply cannot tolerate some medications in this class.
Lyme can stress the body's toxic load.
And lyme treatment can, too, even if necessary.
Therefore, be sure your liver / kidney support is tip-top. Decrease all non-lyme Rx that you can (that you don't have to take) and see if there are more gentle things that might work just as well.
With medical guidance, of course. Prioritizing and rotation are often methods to decrease overall load, too. Still, support is absolutely necessary but that can vary with each person.
Magnesium is excellent support and muscle calming in so many ways, to help calm symptoms while also supporting the liver. In fact, tremors can be a sign of magnesium deficiency.
I cannot read your post (my eyes just can't "do" solid text) however, my past experience with psych meds caused tremors, especially lithium even at very low dose (when misdiagnosed as bipolar). However, just in case you might be taking that, ask about switching to lithium OROTATE, it is easier on the body.
For myself, after so many trials and bad reactions to psych meds, it became clear that I didn't need any of those (in my case). I needed lyme treatment but also magnesium, nutrients and liver support.
Magnesium & B-12 shots provided immediate relief. Going gluten-free lifted depression and mood shifts, too. Gluten can be a very rough thing for the brain.
See the PORPHYRIA posts here, too. Many with lyme have trouble with the liver being able to metabolize psych drugs that often stress the Cytochrome P-450 liver detox pathway. And, if that is the case, tremors and even worsening of symptoms can occur.
Excitotoxins; MSG; Aspartame; & "Natural" Flavors (that are not likely natural at all) . . . .
Gluten detail here, too.
Be sure you are not consuming ANY added glutamate / glutamic acid that may be in vitamins or protein powders. Far too stimulating. -

- Also key to mood stability for anyone with lyme is adrenal support.
