Hoe come Venus Williams has severe sjorgrens and sweats like a pig during her tennis match. Emailed her , I think she may have tbd rather than sjorgrens. We will see if she contacts me

Honestly, it's a real stretch for me to have sympathy for a world-class athlete. She is an extraordinary athlete and most certainly has whatever funds necessary to pay for whatever health care she needs.
It would be a miracle if I could even serve one or two tennis balls at this point. Same with my kids.
Sorry, just not feeling this at all.

I was at the open yesterday. She is sweating because it was hot out.....Nadal sweats more then her.
Not everything has a TBI etiology.

No, def. Venus. She was dx'ed a couple of years ago. Nothing unusual at all about her sweating - in fact most players were sweating a lot more then her yesterday. Great day at the Open!

Hehehe...before cryptolepsis I was sweating like that just by pushing the vacuum around.
And finally wised up and got a waterproof mattress cover and pillow protectors.
Kept thinking it was raining because I could feel drops hitting my neck and shoulders. (falling from my hair-yuck)

Hmmm. I have Sjogren's but sweat a little. My sister cannot sweat at all.
beaches: I'm with you. The article says she has the energy sapping disease, Sjogren's. However, they have no idea how bad energy sapping can truly get. I had no idea, until I got sick and couldn't physically lift my head.

Many with Sjogren's actually have Lyme too... they just don't know it.

lax mom; Yes, I go every year as I am pretty close in distance! It is awesome to see so many top players and most of the courts are spectator friendly with a great view. You can buzz around to any court at any time as there is always more then one great match going on at the same time.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sjogrens is linked to parasites. Check out these symptoms. There's a lot of cross over. I've had many of the symptoms and they are so much better after parasite treatment.

Most people with sjorgrens can not sweat enough to regulate their temperature. My secondary sjorgrens caused my temp to rise from 96 to 105 in several minutes of exercise. I was sent to the hospital twice, and was finally dx by an Opthamalogist with secondary sjorgrens . I could not sweat, tear or swallow due to lack of saliva. I don,t think a world class athlete could control her temp ,if she really had sjorgrens, unless it was in total remission.

Maybe it's another indication that she has Lyme, not Sjogren's.

I had/have sjogrens and did not sweat for years. After treatment for babesia I started sweating and now I sweat normally so I think it can be cured if it is caused by an infection. Seems like autoimmune illnesses are often caused by infection.
I have sympathy for anyone who suffers with illness even if they do not "appear" sick. Sjogrens is another "invisible" illness. Who knows what it costs her to be an athlete in terms of pain and suffering and who knows what her future holds or how sick she will or will not get from her illness.
