I have had a lot of old symptoms popping up so I decided to go back on buhner tea

I never took andro graphis so decided to start with that I took one teaspoon of a weak tea and was in worst pain I have been in a long time it was Neuro pain in my breast and I'm recovering from from breast surg and radiation about a month ago

I was screaming out loud from the pain. 10Mg ketorolac didnt help but 300mg neurontin on top of it allowed me to sleep

That is very small dose to do so much

do you think I was killing something or just doing some kind of damageI'm going to have to be really brave to try that again

Can't edit my initial reply for clarity, so deleting this post as it's already been read by the poster of this thread and, for others, information in the links set is better arranged.

i took the andro and then got the pain and THEN took the RX..first nsaid...that didnt touch pain. then neurontin 300...that helped. i slept. i have minor pain today. but will not take andro again...it was a very very small dose. much less than 400mg. i could not use the pills. the tea will be easier to ramp up...but im going to use the other 4 herbs first cuz they dont bother me. maybe when i knock some of the bugs down i can do the andro

My guess is that your body is still too close to the cancer treatment. Something as stimulating as Andrographis is just too much for your body right now.

If I were you, I'd just be doing organ support, not bug killing so much...

Thanks for clearing up the time-line. And sorry that the pain is so bad. I agree with Razzle that it may be just too strong right now with its multiple actions.

CORYDALIS might work better for pain relief. It's not something that would cause any kind of herx reaction regarding lyme or other infections.

I mentioned a LL ND but it may be best for you to work with a ND who is trained in oncology to deal the specific kind of pain from radiation, surgery. Some medical centers have such NDs and acupuncturists on staff in the oncology units - and you can see them privately, too. Some treatments may even be covered by insurance, considering a cancer / pain dx.

thx for suggestion.

i cant afford ND. 1700. to walk in the door here.

i took 1/8 cup knotweed and 1/8 cup stephania and they didnt seem to do much except while sleeping in the position the neurologist told me to sleep...my whole body got numb for awhile and only my feet got numb for awhile. the hand is the same...maybe a little worse-but still in pinky and ring finger

thank goodness nothing in breast tho. i wanted to knowck down the load if i could befoer the 9/13 surgery

last time b4 surg i used red root and i think it helped with lymph healing etc. i havent made that yet and havent had anymore today because i am still focussed on taxes...when i get them done i will have more

Your insurance may cover naturopathic &/or acupuncturist treatment (and they also know all about herbs) under the cancer &/or pain following surgery for cancer diagnosis.

Some medical centers' cancer programs have NDs and L.Ac. on staff - and some may have sliding fee scale programs (or even some pro-bono programs &. or some donated supplements) if insurance does not cover.

You might check on those possibilities by contacting some of the oncologist NDs and L.Ac.s in your area. The cancer diagnosis can open a lot of doors that slam shut for lyme.

If you can get your foot in the door that way, several bases may be able to be covered at the same time.

Buhner says that some people have trouble with andrographis, so he no longer recommends it as a primary herb. (However, for people who can tolerate it, he says its good.)

He now recommends these herbs as his core protocal:

Japanese Knotweed
Cat's Claw
Eleuthero

These herbs should be ramped up very slowly overtime. Start with the smallest dosage that doesn't cause herxing and slowly ramp up. He is not a big fan of herxing.

The andrographis caused me to have heart palpitations and drooling from the mouth. An allergic reaction for sure.

You can have allergies to herbs, just like to antibiotics.

Listen to your body.

Kayak,

I had trouble with Cat's Claw too, so I emailed Buhner (back when he would take emails), and he told me to take these in place of Cat's Claw:

Eleuthero
Ashwagandha
Rhodiola

But he didn't tell me the amount of each, so I use equal amounts. (I use tinctures.)

P.S. YOUR MAILBOX IS FULL

Rivendell,

Equal amounts usually good. If you feel that the combination is a bit too stimulating, cut back on the Rhodiola. Of the three, that's the one with more punch to it. Best to not take Rhodiola too late in the day (at least alone, in combo it may be fine for your body if you can get to sleep on time).

Thanks Keebler. Maybe just the Ashwagandha at bedtime would be best.

Andrographis tincture at 60 drops a day is best herb I've ever used so far.
