Thanks for posting- I went through the studies- one mentioned a young woman with ADD and OCD and the parents pyschiatrist mentioned
gut health, and prescribed probiotics in addition to psychotherapy and medications- I had to read that one twice, it doesn't conclude probiotics alone helped improvement,
nor did it state which probiotics- the other studies center around 2 specific strains, the strain in Align, and the strain in Culturelle-
I had a GI Dr. recommend Align (single strain with horrible fillers) and noticed no difference, and the same strain is in VSL.
Culterelle (single strain lacto rham.) I do like- but I don't agree it will take away anxiety and the like- but I do buy this one and mix it in- give to my kids.

Yes I did notice that it said she was given meds as well but i found it to be quite interesting that adding probiotics seemed to help.
I have had bad anxiety since puberty and I too doubt probiotics could get rid of the level of anxiety i experience. I still feel they are very important though, obiously my being on abx makes it necessary as well. I can notice I feel worse if I run out.

It's VERY important to protect our guts. Mine is a total wreck, but I'm on my way to winning the war.
Stay away from sugar and fruits when you are on antibiotics. Eat low carb. Take QUALITY probiotics and tons of them! (minimum of 100 billion CFU's per day)
GAPS (Gut and Psycology Syndrome) http://www.gapsdiet.com/ and the BED diet are great for restoring gut health. GAPS is based on the gut/brain connection.
I have found the BED (Body Ecology Diet) to be a better fit and fix for me.
