My son's can become much more visible some days then others.
Not sure what causes it. I think it could have to do with hyper-coagulation. I increase enzymes for him when this happens. Not sure if it helps, but his extra obvious blue veins do go away ,for him

Any chance you are pregnant? That can make your veins very visible, big time.
Other than that, I have no idea. As LT said, it gets worse with age, but I take it you're a young lady and not "up there" like some of us.
canadianmana, very interesting that you mentioned hyper-coagulation as a possible cause and your son's blue vein disappearance with the enzymes. hmmm...more to think about/research (does it ever end?)

Are you treating Bartonella? Because this happens to me when I'm herxing it. It goes away.

You can see your veins more too when you are well hydrated. Also when you lose some weight. Any loss of fat can make the veins more visible under the skin.
You may be eating better and fat may be lost for muscle gain. It could be a subtle change for good if you haven't noticed it yet are eating healthy.

Yes, treating Bart with Rifampin and Mino.
I sure hope these blue veins are just a herx. It looks like I have an netted blue onion bag under my skin.
Feel like I am morphing into a bluebottle fly.
Pregnant? Gosh I hope not! Rifampin is highly tetrogenic.
Hypercoagulation makes sense. When you mean enzymes, which enzymes do you mean and how much is the dose?
I'm 31 in years but feel about 75...on a good day.

Losing weight...I wish. Sigh. Just topped 200 lbs on Monday
Gained 20lbs. since starting treatment in April.
Eat about as healthy as I can. I don't go completely low carb, I still eat plain yogurt and kefir and an organic apple every day. Sometimes a slice of barley quinoa bread. But otherwise, kale every day. Other assorted vegetables. Lots of veggies. Avoid dairy aside from the kefir and plain yogurt. Buffalo, elk, chicken and eggs.
This weight gain is getting me down. I used to be very active in sports but my joints are so painful because of lyme and co. I've stopped all activity but walking.
But I am grateful because I read about others on here who keep losing weight because of lyme and co. and they're in the same boat as me but on the other end of the spectrum. I don't know what's worse...gaining gaining gaining or losing losing losing.
Neither are ideal.

I have hypercoagulation too.. so maybe that is part of it.

Greta, I have more noticeable veins all over my body as well. I even brought this up at my last yearly exam with my regular PCP. All he said was that it means the lab techs and nurses have an easier time drawing my blood. Great answer, huh?
My hands look like my grandmother's did at 80! I think it is related to hypoperfusion from lyme. I also notice these little cyst like bumps at times on the veins in my wrists. My LLNP noticed them as well and didn't know what they were. She didn't seem concerned. They come and go.

Dbpei-haha! Yes, makes the veins easier for blood draws. The lab techs must ignore them cause sometimes it feels like they're digging around looking for one.

Yes, I agree about the 80 year old hands. Between the lyme arthritis and the veins...I guess my career in hand modeling is over.

GreatM, I definitely have what you're talking about. For me it's from Bartonella. All my veins are really blue and very visible all over my body, and look web-like, and some of them on my arms (forearms and top of hands) are also really bulging. I now have this all the time even though I'm treating Bart. I NEVER had any of this until I got Bartonella. If you have Bart, then it's definitely coming from Bart if you ask me...

Is it from blood pooling? My arms/legs turn mottled and my toenails turn bluish if I stand too long due to POTS.
It's weird because if I hang my arms down to my sides, they are mottled red and white. When I lift them up above my head, they are normal peach.
