Hi, I have Babesia, and was prescribed 2 tsps of Mepron per day.

This dose is useless. It's way too weak.

I read that Burrascano recommended somewhere that u can take up to 4 tsps per day, so I tried that.

Wow, what a difference! 4 tsps is definitely much more effective than 2! I noticed my chest pain and breathing got better with 4 tsps.

Does anyone else take MORE than 2 tsps. of Mepron per day?

Yes, I took 2tsp twice a day for 7 months straight. However it only gets me so far then I plateau. High dose of Mepron did not work for me.

Still looking for a solution.

My llmd dosed mepron based on body weight. Based on my weight I took 2 tsp. a day for about 3 months. When he put me up to 4 tps. a day my liver enzymes went high - too high a dose for my body.

Hard to tell exactly which treatment helped my babs but eventually I got better and still holding strong.

Just be aware of the effect of Mepron on liver function.

I took one teaspoon twice a day for five months and my progress was very slow. I switched to malarone and took 3 pills twice a day. I pulsed Coartem every 2-3 weeks. That was much more effective. I had babesia in remission in about 5 more months

Most doctors start at one tsp twice and day and go up after a period of time.

I started out at one tsp twice and day and then went up to 1 1/2 tsp twice a day. Still took care of the Babesia without going up to the highest dose.

Have you talked to your doctor about the dose?

I asked my doc to try CoArtem, but he said to go to an "integrative" doc for that.

My doc is an MD and refused to give Coartem...Why?

Coartem is considered a "dirty drug" because it interacts with EVERYTHING. Docs are hesitant to prescribe it because of that, and because it can be hard on the liver.

I took multiple pulses and am still alive ;-)
BUT I had to be super careful to not take particular meds during the pulse.

To answer the mepron question, I'm on 1 teaspoon, twice a day.

Where can I find a doc who's not afraid of these "dirty drugs" like CoArtem, Plaquenil, Artesunate, Larium, etc..?

I have to kill the Babesia somehow.. Mepron is just too weak by itself.

I was just put on Flagyl.

Damien,

There are no easy solutions. Many of us here have been fighting babs for many years with every combination of ABX and herbs imaginable with little progress.

I just did a round of Coartem and went of all other ABX for a month. I felt some improvements while on it, but back-slid soon after.

Its a long treatment, be patient, or consider changing your LLMD. Don't mean to sound negative. Babs is a b*#@*.

I started on Mepron 1 tsp. twice a day and then it was upped to 2 tsp. twice daily for almost three and a half years. I also pulsed Larium, which was very helpful.

I have now been off of all babesia drugs for almost a year and doing well. Babesia was my main infection.
