I have pain in the maxillary area on one side of my face - over teeth 6 and 7, shooting up underneath one side of my nose, yet the dental clinics could not determine what was causing it.
Additionally, I'm treating the pain with clindamycin, which makes the pain go down. This is pointing to a bacterial infection, yet no one can find it.
Anyone else have or had similar symptoms? Could this possibly mean Lyme is acting up?

Robin, I have a retention cyst at the base of my left maxillary sinus that has caused some strange symptoms on that side of my face and skull. Not so much pain, but different sensations of pressure, inflammation, squeezing tissue, and as though there is a bubbly fluid in my face and skull.
A cat scan of the sinus and mastoid bone did pick this up. But my ENT did not recommend I do anything for it - as retention cysts are common and do not indicate infection.
I went to a biological dentist who has the ICAT (cavitation) X-ray machine. It showed that I have bone infection in 3 areas of my jaw, including area near the cyst. He is doing ozone treatment right now.
It is not fun to have to go through all of this trying to get answers. But the jaw and dental channels are vulnerable places in our bodies that lyme can wreak havoc. When our immune systems are not working well, bad bacteria, fungi, heavy metals, parasites, ... can take over these vulnerable parts of our bodies.
I will probably never know for sure if this is lyme related - or which came first. But it is one of the many nails being removed from my foot, as Dr. H would say.
I hope you can get some relief and prevent further problems with this. You might want to try Seagate Olive Leaf nasal spray to see if it has any effect on the pain. Some have had really good results with it.
Also there are 2 other products that might be helpful. Perio-wash mouth rinse from Whole Foods and 'Watch Your Mouth' from wellscent.com. (My LLND recommends both).
Another thing you might want to try is getting a water pik and putting a few drops of peroxide in (or 'Watch Your Mouth') when you use it daily.
One final suggestion is oil pulling. Good luck to you!

Robin - I've had the same thing and still do.
I agree with dbpei. I've had the feeling of one side of my skull feeling like it's packed solid. Since 2002.
Now it feels like it's packed "liquid" but it's getting much better.
I have retention cysts also, had surgery on the sinuses, tons of antibiotics,...
The only thing working is off label use of Budesonide, Nasonex and allegra.
For me it's all inflammation due to extreme allergies that I didn't have pre Lyme. Strongly reacted to everything on skin testing and intradermals in addition to an IgE of almost 2,000.

Protomyxzoa Rheumatica causes tooth pain and jaw pain. I had brief shooting pain in one of my teeth and the dentist could not find anything wrong. It went away with treatment.

Is it possible that you could have a retained root from a previous wisdom tooth extraction? Dentists ignore those all the time, but they can cause problems.

I have this on and off.
I attribute it to lyme or PR.
It cycles about every 6 weeks-that is why I wonder PR.
My lyme cycles 4 weeks.
A mouthguard helps when it gets bad-i tend to grind my teeth when they hurt, and the mouthguard prevents the teeth pain from getting worse.

Dbpei mentioned a retention cyst, and I had to look that up, as I didn't know what it was.
After reading about it, I think it can be treated with pulsed magnetic energy, as that would reduce inflammation and help the cells to heal.
If the pain is from a cavitation, that could be treated with pulsed magnetic energy too, as it would improve blood circulation to the dead bone area.
Systemic enzyme therapy would also improve blood circulation to the affected areas and improve healing. It is known to reduce inflammation and help infections heal.
Far-infrared therapy with an 880 wavelength would provide the mitochondria of the cells with the energy they need to work properly and heal.
In the past, I noticed that when I was treating my facial skin with the SOTA LightWorks, that the sinuses underneath would open up. The infrared light was reducing inflammation and swelling, and the tissues returned to normal.
So, there you have three suggestions to reduce inflammation and pain, which will help the body to heal infection and return to normal.
The machines to provide pulsed magnetic energy and far-infrared are FDA approved and available from many vendors. Systemic enzymes are available over-the-counter and have few side effects.

Thanks, everyone, for responding here. These are all really good things to know about in case any of us get caught with nonunderstood dental pain.
Turns out I went to my chiropractor today and asked him for his opinion. So he did some cranial work, putting his hands around my head as I was lying down and he moved the bones slightly to restore pulses.
He also did some sinus pressure work, pushing his fingers down on sinuses next to my eyes and also pressing down on the maxillary sinus next to the nose. This work majorly reduced the pain, which is still going down several hours later!
Here's what I think happened to me - as a pedestrian, I was hit by a car two months ago. I was hit on the head and thrown, thus had two major head impacts. I think it threw out my head bones and this situation built up slowly and came to a head (no pun intended)this week -
The chiropractor explained that the cranial bones affect the nerves coming out between them as well as the sinuses. I have a new-found respect for this hands-on work!!

The dental pain I have had has responded incredibly well to MMS mouth washes and running dental foci frequencies with a rife machine with the pads either on my wrists or acutally placed on each opposite side of my jaw.
The frequencies I could feel in the problem teeth and their associated nerves and not at all in the others. The next day my teeth and nerves were quite sensitve. Since then it feels like its cured!

Thank goodness the chiro helped!
I think I had a build up of lymph and some trigger points that were getting in the way of the nerves.
I've been doing some gentle stretching of my jaw muscles and getting the lymph moving (thanks to some youtube videos on TMJ exercises as well as lymphatic massage).
My pain is a lot lower. I was able to go off of Lyrica entirely (I was on 100mg, 2x/day) and switch to a low dose of Neurontin (100mg, 3x/day).

Yes, I'm so fortunate to know who to ask. This is the same chiropractor who told me to drink mangosteen juice when my eyes were failing. I think he's a keeper!!!
All I can say is wow, as my face is feeling so much pressure release and I think my throat is dripping - maybe all the sinuses were clogged.
I keep wondering why I was treating with clindamycin antibiotics for this. No answer yet, but maybe bacteria were caught in sinuses that weren't able to drain?
So I want to add a suggestion for cranial therapy to our treatment mix, since if head bones are out of place, our nerves, sinuses and general comfort level in the face and dental area aren't going to do too well.
I literally was having searing dental pain that top dental depts couldn't figure out.
Just reread this thread - all excellent info here - thx - you all will helped the next ones to come along with this challenge -

I wonder if this is what has been bothering me. MMS mouthwashes 2x day and rifing to the jaw has really helped. I actually herxed from the rife in that area

If a chiropractor helped yor condition, I would suggest seeing an Upper Cervical Chiropractor.
The pain you describe is often permanently resolved by adjustments to the top two vertebrae.

Could be old trauma to front teeth, very common is falling off bike. Teeth usually turn dark. Other dx I'd max sinus infection. Both would have results with clindanycin Third is tri germinal nerve neuralgia least common dx. Would say one or two above, probably two Docdave
