I can't stop shaking. My hands and arms feel like I have Parkinsons and my core feels shaky as well. I
take vitamin D and take Epsom salt baths with hydrogen peroxide every other day. I have lyme
(blood test confirmed) and bart (negative blood test but LLMD believes so). Is there anything I can
do? Is this common? I am on ceftin, rifampin, and pulse flaygl.

Hi T--have you recently started these meds? It may be a herx, and/or a reaction to the meds. It may have more than one cause.
My husband started to have Parkinsonian shaking 1 week to 10 days after he began his new treatment of oral + im abx and Mepron. Some supplements also bring out the shaking.
When he stopped all his meds and all his supps, the shaking stopped after a few days. And he felt wonderful: the meds had hit his Lyme and Babs.
Have you told your LLMD about your shaking? S/he may want to reduce your doses.
Atevan and other muscle relaxants helped in his case. There's another med that my husband's doctor prefers--it's not a controlled substance: I've forgotten the name but will get back to you.
Much better for you, though, are natural forms of muscle relaxation: Epsom salt bath, sauna, _mild_ exercise.
My husband's willing to have a certain amount of _mild_ shaking as an acceptable price for killing spirochetes and Babs parasites. He's in the process of working on this with his LLMD's NP.

I learned that Lyme often has neurological issues. Had a few myself including fogginess. I took a product called NT-detox which stands for Neurotoxin. I guess the virus comes with its own toxins or something. I learned about some of this stuff through the herbal companies blog. But also when I take antibiotics I get really sick so it could be those causing the problem too. THat's why I had to do herbs. The meds didn't work they just made me sicker.

I have uncontrollable shaking happen when I take benadryl. It turns out I'm allergic.
Benadryl is also metabolized through the liver and I suspect this might have something to do with the shaking.

I trembled when I was herxing. Was foggy and exhausted, for about 1.5 weeks. I also had quite a few twitches in the muscles and nerves, actually quite a few. It mostly went away as I continued my treatment, gradually though. I had only one twitch yesterday. Getting only about one a day, sometimes every other day now. Fogginess is mostly gone... and that one symtpom that really bothered me a lot - feeling like I was outside of myself with a general disequalibrium. (is that a word?) I can tell by the great decrease of errors in my writing and spelling. I've had to correct almost all posts for spelling and grammer but now a lot less. 6 weeks ago it was a real mess!
The only things Ive used for detox are chlorella, water and sonic foot baths.. well ozone therapy too. That will detox, espeically the saunas. When I started using the rife machine then I started to use the rife detox frequencies.

Thanks for the responses. I have been on my abx for 5 weeks now and the shaking doesn't seem to be
helped by anything. I am also on the NT detox kaybabalima mentioned.

Look to see if shaking is a side effect of your antibiotic. Remember, side effect really translates to posionous effect. Its just a matter of whether you can endure it or not.

Sorry this is happening to you, T. I hope you can find a way of treating your Lyme and Bart that doesn't do this to you!

NT Detox is really strong! My husband could only tolerate 1/2 a drop.
Have you discussed your shaking with your LLMDF in relation to your protocol of meds and supps?

The shaking started well before my treatment and it just didn't get better with treatment. Some days
are worse than others but I defiantly notice it every day. As far as the NT detox I can tolerate it
I find that I have a tiny headache for a few minutes after I take it but it goes away. I am up
to 2 drops now. My LLMD didn't really address the issue of shaking I mentioned it and she suggested
taking vitamin D and the epsom salt baths. Maybe she thinks its part of the neuro issues?

Sorry to see so many people having this rotten shaking. I get this a lot and I never know when it's going to start. Sometime if at the groc. store I start shaking as I try to pull out my card or cash. Or like when I start to txt here and other times.
Talking on phone is practically non-existent any more. I make many errors txting on my cell. Because I use my cell for this help everyone post rooms. And when I'm just trying to relax my feet start shaking and my hands even when I'm making me a sandwich.
A long time ago my LLMD said it might be Parkinsonism. I have no control over it. I never know when it's going to start. It's usually when I'm trying to pick up a pen and then I start knocking things over or dropping things.
Man oh man this txting sent me further into the Herx I've been having all afternoon. I feel exhausted and limp arms etc... We are here to help each other and for that I am grateful.

Mino and rifampin REALLY helped me with this shaking.
Who knew that bart was behind it all along?
But the herxing was, um, ...memorable? (it was horrid, to be honest).
But I would do it again because those two meds helped so much.

Maybe you can find a lyme literate psychiatrist/nuerologist.
I had shaking.
Things that helped.
Atenolol Ambien Clono
While taken meds from LLMD.
The shaking has stopped 98% of the time.

internal and external trembling could be a sign of adrenal fatigue.
I was doing rather well weaning off of hydrocortisone and following a stressful event I started trembling.
I didn't know what was causing it. Through process of elimination, I knew which doctor to call.
He put me back on higher doses of hydrocortisone and the trembling gets controlled with that.

Isn't hydrocortisone a steroid? I heard that steroids and lyme are not supposed to mix ever.

Yes it is a steroid. Your adrenals produce it and when they're not, it is crucial to replace it.
It's not the same as taking i.e. Medrol pack
It's given in physiologic doses. The amount your adrenals would normally produce.
Adrenal crisis can be fatal.

I, too, had about six months where I would wake up shaking at five in the morning and shake for an hour or longer. I would shake off and on throughout the day. I couldn't sit or lie down, so I would try to walk it off. At that time I had no idea I had Lyme.
I believe the shaking had to do with my adrenal and thyroid glands. I still get shaky when I'm tired and worn out, either physically or metally.
I'd get your adrenal and thyroid glands checked to rule those things out. Also, if you're eating any processed sugars, stop. Stopping the sugar really helped me.
