I'm not sure how it is done in the states, but in Canada, each new med comes with a sheet explaining side effects when the pharmacist hands me my pills.
Also, the pharmacist should go over what other meds I am on, and looks to see if the new pills interact with any meds.
If your pharmacist didn't do this, the next best thing would be to phone and ask about side effects of the meds you're on, and also interactions.
If you can't get through on the phone, then I would go to drugs.com. It has every med known to man on there and lists side effects and what interacts.
A herx, as it was explained to me, is "all your symptoms prior to you starting antibiotics, but ten times worse".
