My insurance will not cover iv. I assume becuase I do not have a cdc postive.

I don't even have a clue what iv cost a month out of pocket

and am guessing couple grand, is that right?

my question can i get better with just orals...?
its ok if it takes longer, but i need to know im not just pissing ( excuse my french ) it away..

or do a pay for like a month or two of iv.. if thats all i can afford is it worth it?

most of my worst symptoms are neuro...

Some docs believe starting out with a couple months iv really improves your chances, for those who have been sick and not treating for a while.

Who knows really, there are many many ways to treat. There is a healer from Australia who apparently can kill all the lyme in your body, but that does not make one instantly well either. He does not kill the bigger parasites/worms, and this killing does leave one with a mess to detox. The point is, though, that then perhaps IV abx may not be necessary.

And who knows what the neuro lyme symptoms are really from. Is some from damage to the neurological system that will not get better just by eliminating the bugs and detoxing the mess?

InfuserveAmerica is probably the lowest cost at a little under $800/mo out of pocket for drugs and supplies. You will need assistance with weekly bandage changes. Google "Infusion for Lymies" to read other ways to reduce costs.

One or two months IV may not be enough depending on how long you have been infected (just my opinion, I did IV for 15 months).

IM injections may be just as effective for some folks, and possibly covered under your Rx plan.

yes $800 per month the last time this topic was discussed few month back.

IM is Intra Muscular.... basically needle and syringe in your glutes.

Some folks have purchased a month of IM Rocephin under an RX plan, and mix themselves with Saline for IV. Getting the Saline, Heparin, and PICC line supplies becomes a little more complex, but in certain states it is manageable.

Check with your local support group to see if anyone has gone down this path in your area that can guide you.

I use IV Rochephin. 2g vials.

The vials say for IV or IM use only.

The instructions have dilution amounts for both IV and IM.

That may be a good option to get it covered under IM instead of IV.

Also a LN member, droid, has tips for keeping costs for IV to $30/day.

Your question was could you get better with just orals. My answer is that in my 10 plus years of helping people with lyme, the vast majority need only oral antibiotics to get rid of lyme.

I got rid of lyme over 8 1/2 years ago on oral medications only. My doc followed the Burrascano lyme treatment guidelines. He treated me for lyme, bab, and bart all in 13 months. I am still symptom free to this day.

I have about 5 friends who all did orals and got rid of lyme and company.

I suggest you read Burrascano Guidelines pages 20-21 to see which patients Burrascano says need IV to get well.

A great lyme doctor will tell you if you need IV or not. If he says you need it, then you need it to get well.

If a good lyme doc says you need IV, you will definitely need the IV for more than 2 months.

Also, I had lyme disease for at least 10 years before I got diagnosed. Still, I got well on orals only.

My advice to you and everyone with lyme is to get to the absolute best lyme doctor possible. The doc is the key to getting rid of this disease. I can't emphasize that enough.

Many doctors treat lyme disease but only a very few know enough to get rid of it for a person. Your job is to find one of those few doctors who gets rid of lyme for people.

I tell people not to go to a lyme doctor unless they know of at least one person the doctor has cured of lyme. Knowing 3 such people is even better.

I highly reccommend IM Bicillin! It is cheaper than IV. I have tried every single IV antibiotic, and I have had the most success with Bicillin...by far. Everyone is different, but you may want to consider it!
