I wake up starving & I go to bed starving, regardless of what or how much I eat.

And I'm still underweight.

I also hear A LOT of stomach rumblings before & after I eat. What is this?

An ulcer? coinfection? candida?

If any of the 3 groups are out of balance, that can happen, regardless (as you say) of "how much" you eat.

Be sure protein, carbohydrates and fat are all in adequate supply and spread out. All 3 food categories need to be part of each meal and snack.

Parasites can cause one to feel the need to eat a lot and not gain weight or even lose weight.

I would check my blood sugars for a few days especially at the time when you are feeling really hungry as high or low blood sugars can cause extreme hunger.

I was underweight for a long, long time, and did have a very significant parasite issue (not just for underweight folks, IMO)

also had yeast- thought it was under control- it wasn't.
Lift weights consistently, always ate regularly, etc.

Anyway, since adding coconut oil 3x a day (recently suggested by Dr. B, suggested a lot of us may be hypoglycemic)

And I went Paleo- cut out all grains, dairy, legumes-
believe it or not I finally, slowly, steadily,

have put on a few pounds. And am sleeping better, overall better mood. Needed the fats. I also worked on parasites for a long time,

but not until diet change, adding coconut oil did I see change.
My stomach always sounds/ sounded like a freight train,

totally embarrassing. I've added a digestive enzyme.

Couldn't edit, just wanted to add:
I needed the fats, but without the grains.

I am decreasing the extra coconut oil at this time, as Paleo eating incorporated it adequately, and holding the gains.

I think if one increases the fats like this, it doesn't work as well with all the grains, JMO.
My digestive tract was a mess. Slowly healing, as it's not a quick fix. Off all Lyme and co. treatment.

My, I wish I had a good appetite!

surprise,

do you feel you still have a significant yeast and parasite issue? Or do you think the coconut oil helped with weight gain-and the yeast and parasites?

Paleo... they say it's what a caveman would eat, right? We tried that about a year ago, but is not very doable for us. About the only thing we could eat as a family was soup, soup, soup, soup. It's not very child-friendly.

TNT, I have a family of 5 here, we are not all caveman, lol, just one child is GF/CF (not Paleo). Just me 100% Paleo,

but I bake a Paleo goods, and it gets eaten and shared.
Paleo is all meats, fish, seafood, fruits and veggies (except white potatoe)

So all meats, seafood, nuts (except peanuts), fruits and veggies, and I make Paleo bread products (with almond and coconut flours) because I need to sink my teeth into some type of bread product at least once a day (if not more.)

My parasite and yeast issues are way, way better (no longer significant) HOWEVER,

I treated both infections with herbs and prescriptions for a long, long time, and used detox methods every day. Hard work, really. Grueling at times. Parasite drugs and herbs were brutal at times, just like Lyme and Bartonella tx.

Yes, the diet change and coconut oils helped with the weight gain. Exercise has remained the same.

Honestly, I never had a pull to food, either. I got hungry, but wasn't interested, really, and impatient to cook from scratch-
where's the microwave, I'm hungry right now type of thing.

I am pleased to say that has changed, and I'm actually having fun with it, it feels positive.

I lost a 3rd of my body weight at one time. It didn't matter how much I ate.

An ND ran a CDSA (comprehensive digestive stool analysis) test. It turns out I had zero good bacteria in my body and an infection that had taken over.

I HIGHLY recommend getting a CDSA test. Once you find out the infection, you can then do targeted treatment.

http://www.food-allergy.org/root3.html

I was able to turn it around in 2 week after getting the proper diagnosis.

This was after 2 years of hell. The ND and I traced the problem starting from antibiotics I had taken 2 years before!

Good luck!

Judie,

How were you able to turn it around in 2 weeks?

Thanks, surprise, for sharing more specifics about your symptoms and diet. It's a big help! It would be wonderful to enjoy food.

I supposedly have my yeast and fungus knocked down (according to recent tests), but don't know about parasites.

My Comprehensive Stool Analysis didn't show any parasites or ova. Still some yeast, but was not sure if that was referring to the moderate level of saccromycees it was showing. But the stool analysis was months ago now.

Judie,

What did your test show?-C-Diff?

Forgot to say that I am GF and mostly avoid sugar-definitely refined and I watch sugar grams. Also, hardly eat any dairy now. This disease(s) just keeps restricting our diets.

I would love to eat some homemade (whole wheat) fresh bread with butter melted on the top! And some chocolate peanut butter ripple ice-cream for dessert! Sorry...

Is it possible you have a thyroiditis? I remember reading somewhere that thyroiditis is very common with Lyme. This was the event for me that sent my latent lyme into motion.

It´s detox/die off. The cause Insuline resistance and so your Body has hunger because he can´t use the carbohydrates. I had this sometimes especially together with a Change in meds or a new one. One time Ihad so much hunger for Proteins. this is probably because they are needed for detox.

I wonder about thyroiditis too. I believe I had it two years ago. I ate from sun up to sun down and lost 20 pounds. But I also had insomnia and very bad moods.

If you have an auto immune thyroid condition, like Hashimoto's, then LDN helps. I was feeling much better by the time I worked up to 3 mg a day.

Wow droid - 6-7 thousand calories and no gain!! That is alarming.

Do you take L-glutamine or any supplements with that ingredient? If so, that could be something to consider for the extreme hunger.
