I have just started Bactrim DS about two weeks ago and over all my Bartonella and Babes. symptoms have greatly improved.

The one thing that has gotten much worse is this feeling of exhaustion since starting Bactrim.

Could Bactrim cause anemia or is this a side effect of the medication?

Bactrim was hell for me . I herxed miserably for at least six months. I know another person who also herxed six months on it .

I doubt it causes anemia, but you may want to incorporate a small amount of iron in your diet to prevent anemia - in a supplement or in food .

When I took bactrim , I felt horribly fluish , chilled, and fatigued , within 30 min of ingesting it . It was intense as far as herx goes .

Wow, bearlythere, good for you! Like ann, bactrim sucked for me. Severe exhaustion, insomnia, and the worse herxes I've ever had (herxed the whole time). I guess it must have been killing something though because my herxes were awful. It also made me depressed.

Are you anemic? I think babs or lyme causes anemia. I've had it for years.

Older post, I know.

I only took Bactrim DS for 1 month. By the last week I was so exhausted. I could only do something for 3-4 hours & then by the next day it was 2-3 hours, the next was only 1-2 hrs.

By close to the end I could bare do anything for 1/2 hr. I could barely walk from one place to another I was extremely fatigued. My new LLMD simply said not to take it anymore.

yes! I was sooooooooooooooo fatigued on Bactrim! I thought it was all my diseases, but when I stopped Bactrim I felt like I was new again (almost, haha)

BUT.... I also had a babs treatment and was told my babs is gone as per testing, so that probably helped tons.

but, I don't think I would go on Bactrim again for myself as I was flat out on the sofa so much. Now I can get stuff done!
