If you catch Lymes after a few months of being bit can it be cured? I found a doctor that I will make an appointment with tomorrow but I'm starting to lose hope before I even start treatment.

Are there people who are completely cured after months / years of antibiotics? or is it forever?

Our son is over Lyme. We used real food (100% grass fed beef, organ meats from non grain fed, organic free range, veggies, fruit. No gluten, dairy, grains, sugar, legumes, nightshades- see Paleo Approach to Autoimmune by Ballentyne),

homeopathics, Rife, rest, QiGong and Tui Na self massage, sweating/sauna, coffee enemas, MTHFR, OPC Sorb. Exercise with weights.

Balanced hormones with Standard Process product. B12 by Global Healing Center. ASEA for glutathione. Liver support - milk thistle. Accupuncture here and there. Picot and homeopathics for herxing. Binders like Takisumi.

We tried a thousand other things but the above is what helped the most.

He feels just as good as he felt before he got ill!

So chin up! You can get through this! Do everything you can to strengthen your body.

I'm also off lyme, for the last 8 years. And so is my daughter, who got it first at age 2, then again, many times as a small child.

We're both lyme free for almost 8 years. Lyme free, treatment free. So there is hope!

Are both of you, Brussels and lookup, saying that you never took prescriptions but just used natural solutions?

I used antibiotics for 15 months then switched to herbal treatments. I made my biggest gains then.

Yes you can get better!

Backyarder,

I did take doxy for 2 weeks (after EM rash), and Riamet (babesia) 1 package (for about 3 days) in the first year I treated lyme.

That is all that I remember I used for lyme.

Later in treatment, I took some antibiotics for cystitis and for TB. If I count all the days I took abx during my whole lyme treatment, it won't go to 2 months, in total.

In the last 12 years, that was the exact amount of abx I took, no more. I never touch abx when I can find other solutions, because of potential damage to my gut.

My daughter took about 2 whole months of antibiotics, in total, in her whole life.

She was infected at age 2, and is now 13 years old.

The only time she took abx, was exactly the moment the tick bit her, at age 2. It didn't help her out, as she couldn't take doxy either... (too small).

Anyway, damage to her gut was far worse than any little improvement she got. In the end of the abx course, she was in a very bad condition, lyme-wise (arthritis, brain, multiple neuro symptoms) and overall (specially food allergies, gut problems).

We are still treating her gut, LONG after lyme is gone (almost 8 years).

I then say that 99% of both our treatment (daughter and I), after MULTIPLE tick bites, and relapses, was 'alternative'.

It included LOADS of homeopathy, herbs, meridian treatments, detox, binders, electromagnetic devices, teeth treatment (for me), Buhner, Cowden, Chiinese herbs, supplements, light therapy, you name it.

Drugs were mostly out of our list, because we had difficulty even with supplements like minerals and vitamins.

We overreacted to many things, and drugs mainly made us go worse than better. A sort of feeling they were poisoning us, instead of healing us.

We tried then to move mostly to tuning food, teas, herbs, homeopathy, TCM as helping tools.

I have no doubt that BUILDING the body back to health was the only way out for us. Otherwise, we would be still in treatment, because of multiple tick bites we STILL get.

we're still far from being healthy, but at least, lyme stopped to haunt us.

We could finally move forward to try fixing other things, such as the gut and mineral depletion. That's where we are now.

Lyme treatment consumed all our resources and time, in the past, so we couldn't concentrate on food and gut only, as we are doing now.

I do think that 'treatments' like oxygen therapies, immune therapies like bee venom, magnetic field therapies /plasma, light, TCM, homeopathy, good diet, herbal combinations hold the keys to health in general.

I'm better and have been since 2009. I started off for a couple years on antibiotics but realized I wasn't going to get well on them.

I used photon treatment, herbal parasite treatment, heavy metal chelation, colon cleanse, liver cleanse, etc.

Healing the gut is essential to health. I've used probiotic foods, Restore, herbs.

As said mentioned above, I eat healthy, real food. Grass fed beef, wild caught fish, fresh veggies, fresh fruit, no gluten (and seldom other grains), pasture eggs. pasture butter, etc.

backyarder1- doxy and tindidizole were the 1rst antibiotics given and that was helpful for first 2 weeks. The tinidizole was stopped because it started causing nerve damage.

There was another combination of antibiotics used but it did not do anything.

All in all - not more than 6 months of antibiotics used. He stopped them because they weren't helping and it was wrecking his gut. That's where I think the auto-immune developed which is being fixed with diet.

The rest of his treatment was geared towards non-toxic approaches and basically on our own 99% of the time. I have a conventional and natural medicine background so we felt comfortable to do this.

We pulled in anything we thought would help at different times (cases are dynamic and changing). When we found good acupuncturists he would get that done.

Our biggest challenge was that he was living in Australia going to uni and we moved and well- nothing was stable location wise. ugh. Glad that is over.
