Hi

I have had slurred speech issues since I got ill three years ago. When I get it, I cannot say my "s" sounds properly and sharply and its very annoying.

In addition, I also get painful ears - the pain comes and goes along with the slurred speech and a sore throat. Even touching the inside of my ear hurts.

It also hurts underneath my ears, under the ear lobe.

These symptoms normally come and go, but get alot worse just before and during my monthly cycle.

I just started two new meds - zithromax and mepron along with the IV doxy, and the ear pain, slurred speech and sore throat have suddenly got a lot worse.

Am I having a herx? What infection do I attribute this to - Lyme, Bart?

The slurred speech is especially embarrassing and all my teeth feel uncomfortable in my mouth too.

Any one else deal with this??

These are Babesia symptoms in me. The fact that they are exacerbated on Mepron/Zith is evidence that you are hitting the right pathogen and herxing.

Do lots of detox. You will probably feel worse before feeling better, but then notice a tremendous amount of symptom relief as the Babesia load comes down.

Be patient. It takes a while to get Babs under control.

Thanks for your feedback BoxerMom.

I hope I can continue to treat the Babesia because every time I take the drugs, they hurt my gut so much that I have had to come off them, especially the Mepron.

How long should I expect to treat it for?

A Lyme friend had stomach pain issues and her doc kept treating yeast and everything else. Nothing helped.

She changed docs and treated her Babesia aggressively. That was the treatment that resolved her stomach pain.

It can be med intolerance, too. Alinia and Albendazole were awful for me. I ended up with gastritis. Ouch.

It's hard to distinguish infection symptoms from med reactions. Be safe. Don't wreck your gut.

Try Malarone. It has Atovaquone (Mepron) in it, plus one other drug. It's a pill, so maybe more tolerable? It's also generic, so doesn't cost too much to try.

A yogurt buffer in my stomach goes a long way in helping me tolerate meds. (If you can eat dairy.)

I hate to tell people how long I've treated Babs. I got it into remission after one year of Mepron combos. Remission lasted 18 months, then I relapsed.

I have been treating that relapse for over three years.

Babs is a horrible infection. You'll figure out what you can take through trial and error. Treat beyond the point of symptom-free, then stay on herbs (or do Rife) for a year. Do not relapse!
