My SIL met up with a lady selling essential oils who had a protocol to use for Lyme treatment.

Is anyone here using essential oils to treat Lyme and co infections?

What are the pro's and con's?

Many here use essential oils. It is good supportive therapy. I've heard a few reports of someone getting well by using them, but it would take intensive treatment and a good healthy regimen would need to accompany it.

Here is a link.. http://www.yleo-oils.com/lyme-disease.htm You can find more discussions by doing a search here.

I love the oils for pain relief and for calming the nervous system.

There have been several threads about this topic.

Here's a recent one. I quoted to me the most important opinion.

Cinnamon Oil got rid of Lyme? Is Link True?

"Since testing for these infections cannot determine if an infection is "cured", the person has no way to know for sure if they are cured or not.

The claim that oils or any killing agent does not create cysts is not substantiated with anything other than their opinion and is likely incorrect. As far as I can tell, most if not all of the statements made are unproven and seem highly unlikely.

That said, I recall a woman on this forum who used oils as a big part of her treatment who went into remission. Many tried to get her recipe but as I recall, she could not remember it.

I've used oils for years. In fact, I have ~45 oils on hand and 2 diffusers. They can be powerful but I would never count on one thing to cure lyme disease."

Do a search here for essential oils. There are a lot of threads discussing it.

There are numerous recipes for use of the oils for antibiotic use. I would be happy to share the recipes I have with anyone who wants them. Just shoot me a pm so I can list them for you. There are too many to list here.

Ingesting essential oils was the biggest mistake I've ever made in my life. I woke up a deep rooted infection(s) & it's been an uphill battle ever since.

I know some have success with them but I think they 1) penetrate the CNS with EASE!

2) that can backfire as most of these herbs just agitate the buggers and don't do much actual killing ala abxs.

Just my experience

Most of the people who have success with using the oils for Lyme treatment take them internally. Not everyone can handle this...it can be hard on the stomach.

I use the oils in a diffuser or topically to help with some of the symptoms...

Copaiba + Clove - helps joint pain

Thieves (cinnamon, lemon, clove, eucalyptus, rosemary) - helps prevent catching colds/flu, improves my sinus congestion, and works very well on skin infections; I also diffuse Thieves to clear the air in the house of unpleasant odors, mold, etc.

Idaho Balsam Fir + Copaiba - fabulous for melting the muscle knots in my neck...

Peppermint (applied on feet, temples) - helps motion sickness

Frankincense + Idaho Balsam Fir - wonderful on sore muscles from over-work/strain

Copaiba (on forehead) - seems to prevent my hay fever symptoms (itchy/watery eyes, sneezing, runny nose) during tree/grass pollen seasons

I don't ingest except some little bit since I use tea tree on my mouth/gums/teeth. Oh and in the last few months I've discovered tea tree is great for vaginal yeast/irritation or itching in the area.

The uses for other things externally are amazing. Also using a diffuser in home and using them by breathing them is amazing.

I love my oils. Many need to cut with another oil like almond oil, lanoline oil, etc. Some people are sensitive to using essential oils straight up and undiluted.

I'm lucky I use them undiluted and get many great benefits from them.

Pam

Diffusing them is very uplifting. My dogs come running when I open a bottle of an oil they like.

My Basset Hound had a cancerous tumor on her back paw and we got rid of it in 8 weeks with the oils. Shocked the vet when he saw that it was gone.

Yes, Tutu good point on using good oils. You shouldn't buy your oils from Wally World or just any old place.

Shop at Whole Foods, other well known health food stores. Ordering them on line from reputable companies is important also.

Aromatherapy is beneficial. I bought a book from Amazon. It has all the well known oils and their uses and advise on how to use.

I have tried ingesting Thieve's oil, frankincense and oregano oil in a coconut oil base in capsules. I did this during flare weeks when I was first diagnosed with lyme. Every four hours with a timer.

I used this in conjunction with 3 high dose oral abx.

The only thing I noticed is my breath and skin smelled of herbs.

So the oils DO permeate all cells, in my opinion, as others could smell the oils coming through my skin from ingestion.

I am now on high dose IV abx, and high dose oral abx, as well as many prescription medications to help manage my neuro symptoms.

So for neuro lyme, I would say "No, not helpful for me."

BUT...

another member on here recommended that I put a drop of frankincense on the base of my neck and on my crown of my head. I was having these weird seizure/muscle things during REM. I do the frankincense thing every night before bed and I have had only one of the seizure spells since.

I also put Thieve's oil diluted on my feet and ankles every day before work and then put on wool socks. I have not had a cold yet this winter.

I've been making my own dishwasher detergent and use a drop or two of lemon oil in the detergent dispenser. It costs near to 0.10 a wash and my house smells of lemon instead of chemicals when the dishwasher is on.

And I have sores on my chest, neck and back, and Thieve's oil mixed with tea tree and a bit of grapeseed oil helps the reduces the redness and swelling in minutes on these sores.

I'm pretty sure they are staph or strep.

Essential oils are one of the few things I feel I have 'control of' and 'options' about with these illnesses.

I am saving up to try copaiba on my spine.

Are essential oils a brand?

I know of one person selling what she calls Essential Oils.

If so would the essential oil solution for your issue be dependent on the person selling them?

There are many "brands" of essential oils. Just investigate which one is best for you. Some companies want you to join to purchase at a discount. I only use Young Living.

I'm not sure I understand the question.

But do be careful of cheap brands, or companies that are not in control of their crop land, growing, harvesting, processing and distillation.

I'm not sure I understand the question.

For instance, if one person who sells a mixture that is targeted at lyme, would it be the same mixture sold by another person?

This assumes the same brand of essential oils.

I guess the question is are solutions to issues standardized across essential oils companies and not sales person dependent.

No, just like other protocols everyone has their opinion on what is needed to fight the Lyme & Co.

There is no regulations on this type therapy. The person that mixes "your protocol" is doing what they think you need.

I believe I would want to start with one essential oil at a time. Just like with supps, herbs, meds, abx....you want to be sure your body is not going to react badly to something.

If I did a mix of oils for tx and I reacted badly I wouldn't know what was truly going on. Is it a herx(healing crisis) or is my body allegoric to one of the essential oils used in this combo of oils.

I hope I explained my thinking on this. Of course sometimes you just have to trust who you are working with. If you are working with someone that muscle tests you and your body is responding in a positive to this combo of oils and this person is someone that knows me and my issues....I could see myself being willing to try the combo. Slowly, very slowly introducing it into my system.

Just how I would approach things based on my experiences with new tx. I am able to think outside the box, but I also know very well my healers and they know me.

Pam

There are antibiotic oil recipes that some use for health issues and Lyme. They mix them up themselves.

But yes, you can have a healing crisis when you start using the oils. They detox the body and if you are already sick, you don't want to detox too fast.

I have used the antibiotic recipes throughout treatment but I did start slowly.
