Hello everyone. I have been on and off here for 6 months or so, but I have changed my whole protocol around in that time, and I now have some questions. I'll try to keep it from getting too complex.

I took high dose antibiotics for 3 years or so, with the last 2 years being a very aggressive and solid protocol. I lost insurance in October and could not pay for the meds I needed with my new, crappy insurance.

After stopping abx, I went to Dr. K's parasite protocol. I did the whole thing at the proper doses. I just did one round, lasting maybe two months.

I then switched to Salt-C after two weeks of taking nothing at all. The following is a breakdown of what transpired.
- First two weeks - Mild to moderate herxing. A lot more fatigue.
- After four weeks - night sweats- SEVERE. I was waking 3x /night with fully soaked shirts. My pillows were soaked as well. This also began regular waking at night every 3 hours.
- A bit past 2 months in, I got the flu (I think) 103+ fever, bedridden for a week. My body fought it off and after all was said and done, I felt physically better than I had in a long time. Also, after the flu, I stopped sweating at night.
*could the flu have actually been a dreaded 8-10 week herx that the book warns of? babesia? Lyme?

I now have increasing insomnia. Getting to sleep is less difficult than it has been for me in the past, oddly. But now I wake 3-4 times per night, and often wake early, unable to get back to sleep. I don't get more than 5-6 hours. I soometimes have 1-2 hour gaps between waking and getting back to sleep.

Also, BART symptoms are starting to rage. I've had foot and finger pain for a few months. Worse foot pain than I ever had with Bart. My primary Bart symptom was always EXTREME insanity and anxiety (rages, inability to snap out of the insanity, racing thoughts and suicidal urges). Oddly, the foot pain was a very small symptom and barely noticeable if even present most of the time. LEvaquin / Avelox always brought my Bart Symptoms way down, to the point of seeming sone for good.
Now, It is reversed. My anxiety levels are way less than what they were, and my life is pretty manageable. But, foot pain is pretty bad at this point, as well as this horrible insomnia. Today is a particularly bad day because I've been getting less and less sleep culminating in about 9 hours in the past 2 days. I'm barely functional today and I have a ton of stuff to do.

I also have ear pain. My ear symptoms have always been bad, in fact they were my first going back at least 8 years before I knew I had Lyme. My ears have been chronically clogged for 8 or 9 years. They clear up occasionally, but not for more than an hour. Acupuncture was the only thing that kept them unclogged for over a day, but it did not last. The ear pain has gotten quite bad, and spread to my jaw. I have dental issues as well. My jaw is sometimes in excruciating pain.

The neuro stuff had died down quite a bit, but today is really bad. I feel pretty unbalanced. I know that losing as much sleep as I have been is really going to make recovery hard. What can I do about this? Melatonin is not a good sleep aid for me. It makes me wake up and stay up after about 3 hours of rest. Valerian doesn't seem practical, because of the liver issues. I don't even know if a sleep aid is a good idea. Perhaps adrenal support? But what can I take with the Salt-C protocol? What is inexpensive?

I need to start taking something for Bart. I do believe the Salt-C is hitting Lyme & Babs, but I don't know that it's hitting the Bart. In fact I am very doubtful. One thing I've noted though, is that ALL of my symptoms have changed. So that is a significant factor. I have a stockpile of Alinia, left from Dr. K's protocol. I'd like to explore that, but in another post, unless someone can shed some light on it here. Not sure if it hits Bart, but I've heard that is has.

I should also note that I've been somewhat "gritty" with this protocol. A lot of weird scabs on the scalp. I had a creepy crawl feeling on the back of my neck, I reflexively swatted at it, and the next day, there was a sizable cut in that exact area. It itched like hell, formed a scab and eventually went away.

Right now, Salt-C is my primary treatment. What kinds of things can I add to make it more effective? What kinds of Bart treatments are a good combo to it?

I should add that I've been able to hold down a full time job, and have not backslid since coming off of abx. But I'm getting very nervous about a potential backslide, especially with all of these Bart Sx cropping up.

Sorry for the long post. I've been away for a while! I'm writing this not only to get some possible insight into my situation, but also to help myself out, getting my thoughts down and actually having something I might reference in the future.
I hope some of you can help me out, thanks!

The best for me was antiparasitic herbs such as Humaworm, Parastroy or Hanna Kroeger, with the salt/c. The combo packs quite a punch and caused the parasites to let go.

Also added coconut water to balance electrolytes and extra water. If you haven't "seen" any parasites exit, then you need to up the anti.

How much salt/c are you up to? Warm water enemas are also helpful to release dead and dying parasites and toxins from the lower colon. Getting rid of parasites FIRST will help get rid of the other co-infections.

I'm now at 12 and 12. I use the mixture method with pink Himalayan salt. I use powdered c.

Don't know if I've "seen" anything but I have definitely seen some weird stuff. Some things looked like black spots, some like white ..."things"... a lot of "mucus" perhaps biofilm. I could start a whole new thread about that, and I probably will.
Right now I need to get the Bart under control before it makes me insane again.
I also need to get the insomnia controlled or no amount of treatment will help.

I'm so sorry. And I'm no expert, can only share my personal experience, which doesn't include the infection babesia.

Is there any way you can afford a Dr. and get a sleeping med?
I know first hand what you wrote about sleep- exactly.
I take a sleep med- explained to a regular Dr. I have chronic insomnia, had it for decades,

have spent thousands on every natural sleep remedy to no avail, my mother has insomnia (I don't mention it could be TBI)
I do have a monthly script for sleep med, I need to function, kids (you full time job.)

As far as parasites/ Bart. I believe Bartonella can and does reside in the GI tract. For me, during intense parasite protocols, I also felt Bart symptoms re- emerge.
I also believe parasites will keep someone sick.

And treating parasites is hard.
Alinia, by the way, was 'easy' for me (took 1 month)
(but that was me.)

I don't know about taking that much salt/ C, seems high, can't comment there, but I bet your bowels are moving, which is imperative.

Adding tablespoons of coconut oil, especially before bed, helps me stay in bed longer.

HH2 capsules did tamp down Bart for me while on heavy antibiotics for Borrelia, but it is expensive.
I've heard a good Houttonyia tea is effective, too.

Hang in there--

Yeast surfaces when I'm killing parasites off. That might be what is keeping you up at night. Try taking something to kill the yeast before bed. I often don't know it's there, but it is, because whenever I do take something for yeast, I sleep better and have less interrupted sleep during the night.

I love A-bart for bart. I got bit again recently (so bart and other cos popped up), and it knocked it back in just a few weeks.

Salt/c alone doesn't do it for me. Gael is right, I get better results whenever I mix it with an herbal parasite formula like she mentioned above. Also, I couldn't handle salt/c with alinia (kidney pain).

Thanks for the input Catgirl. Not suggesting you do this lymeboy, but I did take the salt/c up to 20gms a day in divided doses of of 5mg 4 x a day. I was only 110 lbs and 5'4" when I did this and drank extra water thru the day. Why not add the herbs and see if you get results. Helped go after the bart for me as well.
