Last Monday after almost 1.5 years of on antibiotics I finally went 100% gluten, sugar, wheat alcohol and dairy free. It has been the hardest thing I think I have ever done. I am a huge food person and I don't think there has been a week that has gone by since I was born that I haven't enjoyed a big bowl of pasta (italian here).

The first few days were awful, but now I am slowly easing into it. I also started Bio-Silver spray from my doctor and A-FNG. She still has me on Rifampin and Minocycline.

At my last visit, she said she thinks there is little tick borne activity going on but a lot of fungus inside my head.

My symptoms started two years ago out of nowhere... my main problem all along has been head pressure/head aches and other head symptoms. I have always had a thought in my mind that my main problem was candida or mold toxins.

The past few months I have noticed a decrease in head and sinus pressure from Bartonella treatment. But after this week of dieting and being on the new supplements, I have been feeling pretty good. I have also dropped a lot of weight.

At my last visit, she didn't want to put me on an anti fungal because my liver is already being pounded by rifampin.

I have left over Diflucan. I am thinking that if I am doing this diet I should attack this fungus from all ends. I am starting to think it is time to go off the antibiotics and heal my body of fungus. Any thoughts? Hope all of that made some sense.

I am not sure that you should do this on your own. Worries me for patients to make these decisions when the doc has given a good reason not to--like liver issues.

Maybe someone will come along and suggest some of the non-drug candida fighters. Don't know how they affect liver, but there are several that people here use.

Xrunner-yes! Super hard to be wheat free with homemade sauce and bread all the time.

Telling a traditional Italian family, "No thank you." to homemade foccacia and bread is dangerous. Haha.

Good for you!

If the rifampin is helping-stick with it.

Then when you are free of bart, and off rifampin, go pedal to the metal with yeast busting.

But don't do so without your docs knowledge. We only have one liver [Smile]

A-FNG is a super powerful anti-fungal! A-P has some cross over as well. Diflucan is very toxic to the liver and I use to space it out every 2-3 days because of this and the long half life.

If my liver e.'s ever went up I was to stop DIflucan immediately. Nothing to mess with.

If you want to work harder on yeast/mold then why not add more herbs? Is your LLMD open to adding in more herbs such as; OOO, OLE, Pau D Arco, Cryprlic Acid, ART (used for Babs but also yeast/parasites), GSE, Black Walnut ect...?

Do it and hopefully it will be the best decision you've ever made for your health!!

What I mean is do the anti-fungal DIET... you will have to make your own decision about the meds. I would agree with trying natural anti-fungals first. They can be very powerful!

Today I decided not to take my Rifampin or Minocycline to see how I feel, and to continue this new diet and continue to take the Silver, A FNG, Cholestyramine, A-INFLAM, Quintessance, vitamin d, and some other natural antifungals.

I am going to wait a week to start the anti fungal medication.

I hope I am making a right choice... I feel like the antibiotics are doing more harm than good at this point. I am just worried about my heart pain returning.

After a year of antibiotics I made the decision to walk away. For me I thought they were doing more harm than good. I went gluten, dairy, grain and soy free. Best decision I ever made.

I felt much better than my entire time on antibiotics! I now follow the Paleo diet. I lost a ton of weight as well [Smile]

So much of what we consume contributes to how we feel. Only you know what is best for you in regards to continuing or stopping. Unfortunately some doctors will keep patients on antibiotics way too long and in the end the symptoms they are feeling are no longer from the Lyme, just what is now left behind due to all the havoc the antibiotics have caused.

Diet is also probably one of the biggest things people are most reluctant to change. For me it was a no brainer. It amazes me the treatments people will undertake and subject their bodies to, not to mention the expense, rather than try changing their diet.

BTW I made some awesome Choc chip cookies this weekend. PM me if you want the recipe.

I agree. I don't realize how good I feel till I go off my strict cave woman like diet. Clean simple foods can make a big difference after 10 years of abx treatment. IMO yeast is a big offender for all of us that have been on long term abx.s - no matter how careful we are. Just my 2 cents.
