hi, I have this. it comes and goes.
Please don't send me lots of internet links. I want to know if anyone here has this that comes and goes and
I would also like to hear from people that are well and it has gone away entirely.
I think I just need some encouragement that I will feel better one day from it.
It makes me depressed a little.
Of course I never know when it will strike. sigh

Yes yes yes, me me me!!!!!!!
Currently unable to eat or drink or swallow anything. This is the 4th time my gut has shut down completely. Eventually, it'll start working again...but who knows when...
I never know when it'll hit, nor how long it'll be down for before my gut starts working again.
I am certain it is at least in part due to Lyme/Bartonella (& who knows what other coinfections), and at least in part due to allergies (especially tree/grass pollen).
Beyond that, I have no idea why or how my gut chooses when it chooses to shut down...

I had terrible gastroparesis and heartburn. I also had some kind of upper back pain that seemed digestive.
It was pretty bad in winter-spring of 2011 but went away with Lyme treatment. I also think that it was partly allergies, because taking Benedryl at night helped.
You can search my posts, but among the things that helped me were: antacid like zantac or prilosec between meals. Betaine HCL, Digestive eanzymes and Histame with meals.
I also had constipation with it-- so I took miralax every night for awhile.
Good luck. It gets better with treatment, but I still have some symptoms every once and awhile.

today I have such nausia and I can't eat much. I used to choke pretty often on my food, but that has gotten better.
I am guessing there isn't much to be done by us to help this? just wait and progress with treatments I think.

I had it- went away with Lyme treatment. I think it was due to babesia because I also had POTs, both affect Vegas nerve
Small meals, lot of smoothies and digestive enzymes with every mini meal helped. It was awful- I lost way too much weight. But it eventually went away!!!

My son at age 14 was diagnosed with gastoparesis by our cardiologist. Funny story there. We took help back then from anyone who could give it! He tried mestinon to get the stomach moving and it was the ONLY thing that worked. Mestinon is for Myasthenis Gravis which he doesn't have. 3 months on IV for Lyme and stomach issues disappeared. Hope you get relief soon.

kt, my father in law was diagnosed with myasthenia Gravis. I keep feeling he might just have lyme..... :/
He has all the lyme symptoms. How do they know the difference?
I feel much better with my gut. I think my treatments are really helping. and I gained 6 pounds. not too thrilled with that, but it IS a good sign that I can eat again!

Lisa,
My Dad also was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis, but I think he had Lyme...
I think the only way to know for sure is to treat for Lyme and see if improvement happens...
Or do the antibiotic challenge test (take abx for a few weeks, then do the blood test for Lyme).

Have you been tested for H pylori? Had an endoscopy?
It's a bit vague. Getting the gut healed can take time, dedication and work, and I'm finding, testing to find out exactly what is going on.
Yeast overgrowth, SIBO, gluten intolerance, dairy intolerance, etc.
Parasites.

yes, I have had EGDs. negative for Hpylori.
I think since mine got worse when all other lyme and co. symptoms did , that is is from that. of course I may be wrong, but that is what my gut is telling me (pun not intended)
As my tick disease symptoms are getting better so is my GI issues. SO far I have been treated for strep, babs, and tapeworm.

That's great!
Can I ask, how did you treat the tapeworm? What made you or your practitioner think you had one?

I was tested with a biomerdian stealth test. It showed up there.
I actually was telling my old GP for years I thought I had a big parasite in there. He would laugh....
I took chlorella, cilantro, and a bunch of other herbs to get rid of the tapeworm. The herbs were from Monastery of Herbs through my LLMD.

this link below shows you what biomerdian is about. My dr uses a much more involved machine thatn the one shown there.....
He was trained by German Drs. There are not many that do what he does, I don't think.
There are all kinds of biomerdian testing machines. The one my dr uses can check for stealth organisms (parasites, lyme, etc) , organ function, and allergies.

Lisa, Did the ER say you were impacted? If so, have you tried doing a full clean out with Miralax?
