I'm not sure where to start, so here goes...

I've been ABT-free for about three years now. The past 1.5 weeks though there has been pain with some swelling of my left knee. Just to rule out arthritis (osteoarthritis is hereditary), I saw a rheumatologist. Standard x-rays taken and were all fine. Awaiting lab results (sed rate, C-reactive protein, yadda, yadda..). Assuming all lab results are negative, and rheumatologist r/o all types of arthritis, do I assume I'm experiencing a Lyme relapse or flare up?

Sorry for asking a basic question. I'm just so stiff when bending my knee. All other joints seems okay!

Thanks:)

My knee joint pain responds to turmeric. I get it in bulk at the healthfood store and put it in capsules.

Also, getting lymph drainage massage done eases knee and ankle joint pain.

Yes, it could be a flare up. Why not try the curcumin? It really helps take down the inflammation.

Also try a candida diet. It can cause joint pain also.

Great suggestions by both of the above.

I'll throw my two cents in also...

I have been gluten free for about 11 months now.

The few times I've had some slip ups, (pizza, soy sauce, gravy) my joints have hurt like the devil the next day or two after.

Are you gluten free?

Is that something you'd be willing to try for two weeks to see if it helps your knee?

I have been allergy tested for wheat and gluten. Everything says wheat and gluten are OK for me to eat. But when I had those slip ups...man did my joints get sore!

Just putting that idea out there

Gluten causes terrible pain for me... dairy isn't much better. Both contribute to yeast.

I'm sorry for your pain overwhelmed. I'd like to ask another question in relation to this for advice. If someone's been off treatment for three years and they do have a relapse/flair? Do you all recommend going back on treatment (herbs or abx?) Or just try to resolve inflammation?

My first lyme symptom was a "swollen" knee, as in I could not bend it. Didn't hurt. Ignorant doc measured it, said it was same size as the other one, nothing wrong.

That is a good question Kudz.

I don't know what I would do in the situation either.
