Epsom salt baths- recipe I use 2 cups Epsom salt and 1 cup baking soda. Warmest water, warm enough to lay back in and soak for 15-20 minutes. Be sure to flip over and soak that front part of body that didn't make it if you tub isn't deep enough.
Some people really react badly to hot water. Also the first few times you do detox baths it will wipe you out. Like I must lay down and rest wipe out. At bedtime is good time to do this.
Use a loofa and brush the skin starting on one foot and do strokes towards the heart. One body part at a time and all strokes going to heart.
Use no soaps in detox baths. You can always shower off before getting out of tub if you feel the need to.
With some folks it takes the body a while to learn oh, you want me to sweat and detox thru the skin pores. Skin is the largest organ so detoxing thru the skin is very good.
I always put on my sweats after one to continue to sweat thru the pores. Drink lots of water prior to detox baths and certainly drink plenty of water after detox baths.
Dehydrated body will not be happy if you try to sweat it out without plenty of water.
During heavy herx periods 2 a day can really be beneficial. I call detox baths the best pain meds of all. When I get warmed to the bone, my muscles and joints, bones are happy happy happy for a few hours.
When detox baths aren't so draining to your son, he can then begin to do things after the detox baths to keep up the sweating and detox periods, like light housework and moving about to keep the body into that work up a sweat phase.
Greta, funny you do cool on your face, I gravitate to warmth. Cold gel pack only when it's +90 degrees. After this long cold snowy winter maybe I will think of cool gel packs in August. We are all so different.

Can these baths have you feeling wiped the next day?
I took one (my first) last night, and was wiped. I'm still pretty exhausted this morning.
How often should you do them at first?

Yes, the detox baths can wipe you out at first. I found staying in the bath only 5 minutes the first few times helps cut down on the exhaustion after...
Then after a few times, you can start to increase - try 7min., then 10, then maybe 12 min., then 15, then 20. And see whether you like the 15 or the 20 minute soaks better after that...
Other things I've used to help with detox:
Avoiding heavy, large meals. Soups or salads are great for this...
Antihistamines (I used Claritin before got into the essential oils)
Essential oils (esp. Copaiba, Idaho Balsam Fir)
Homeopathic Nux V. (supports liver/gut detoxing)
Resting under a very warm blanket
Oh, almost forgot to add, using a Rife or frequency machine for detox...

Also using skin as a detox organ. If the baths are too much we tried hot water bottles, a silk sheet and then down blanket. As soon as a sweat was on my sons skin he would wipe it off with a warm cloth and repeat this process a few times.
Also if really bad try coffee enemas.
of course rest, good nutrients and liquids are vital.

The patient is supposed to drink warm water while in the detox bath. This is to replenish the water you are losing by sweating.
And, when you get out, first wash off the salts from your skin, then go to bed.
These things should help you recover from the bath.
I only did them when I felt really lousy, and I didn't do them every day. I did them about twice per week.
As you say, you get really wiped out from this bath.
