So I recently posed a question about doxy and air hunger as I recently resumed doxy.
The effects this time are so different. In addition to the air hunger I feel highly irritable, emotional, picking fights with hubby, very angry. It made me think of lyme rage. Is that a thing that happens with lyme or herxing?
It only occurred to me last night after a big fight that this could be herxing or a side effect. I feel so wound up, my mind is on replay an I am not sleeping as well.
I don't want to feel crazy and emotional but that is what is going on.
Should I assume this will pass or should I try something different? thinking of mino if i switch.

Have you treated babesia? It sounds more like the doxy has brought out the babesia to me -- air hunger and insomnia are both major babesia symptoms.

Lyme rage is real. My LLMD had a sign posted that anyone exhibiting signs of it would be asked to leave.....
I think more important is you need sleep. Several posts here have recommended sleep aids- herbs, teas, etc
Or you can call your doctor and see what he/she recommends.
I took many Epsom salt baths when I felt edgy. Detoxed me and saved the family from my grumpies by me separating myself!

Epsom salt baths... oh yes... I'm sure everyone here is deficient in magnesium.
Hope the emotional stuff dies down soon, gigimac!

It's real. I've had it happen on some antibiotics. I had to stop the ones that did this since the symptoms wouldn't stop. It took a day and I was back to normal.
Other antibiotics have made me feel calm though.

Oh my goodness! That sounds EXACTLY like me when I started A-Bab (minus the air hunger). I think I need to post a warning to my family when I am on A-Bab to take me with a grain of salt! It literally comes out of the blue and I would start a major argument and just be angry for no reason! Makes me a bit nervous to take that stuff! Anyways, I will give the Epsom Salts a go!

I feel highly irritable and angry all of the time, too. I posted under general support last night about a huge fight I had with hubby and teenage stepson that lasted 3 hrs. I thought i was losing my mind. Also have crying fits for no reason.
Maybe it is Lyme rage? I definitely need to research this. Thank you for bringing it up, or I would have never heard of it!
Hope you feel better.

I always thought this was bartonella.
But whatever TBD it is, yes, I believe it is caused by TBDs. Absolutely!
Mine has improved with treatment.

Re: Lyme RAGE...I had it before the Lyme was treated. It was very real, and it was bad.
Something that normally would just irritate me just a little bit could set off a rage. It would come on very suddenly, but I did always have just barely enough time to get away from others. It's something that was absolutely not controllable.I used to smash things destroy my place, and anyone in the way...God help them!
As soon as I got on the antibiotics it went away.
The hard part was that my husband took me to therapy and the psychologist told me it was basically my own fault and I needed anger management. I knew even before dx w/Lyme though that this was nothing I could control, nor was it an anger issue. It would always come on pretty much like a seizure.
I never have them anymore.
