He is 15 and has strep, RMSF and being currently treated for bacteroides.

He has cold after cold after cold.

He is a teen so he refuses some things like immune builders because they taste bad or whatever....

Any thoughts? Ideas?

Thank you in advance

Can the Dr. who is treating his strep and Rocky Mt. Spotted Fever infection sit him down (hopefully a good LLMD)
and speak to him about maintaining/ regaining his health?

He did give him a good talking to. I asked him to focus on the badness of sugar.

I will remind him.

My kids wants those chewable Airborne, but I am not sure they do much, plus- sugar!

Those Emergen-C packs are yummy!

What about "protein shakes/smoothies"?

A high quality protein with stevia instead of splenda or aspartame, with cold filtered whey... You could sneak some coops of fibre blend in the smoothie.

High quality whey protein has been shown to increase natural glutathione levels.

I like "About Time" brand. Banana, Vanilla, Birthday Cake and Chocolate are the yummiest flavours I find. The only thing is they need to be blended. Being natural, they stay lumpy if just shaken.

I've also tried progressive but the whey flavour is overpowering. Almost goaty-y.

Hey Greta, that protein powder looks great! I usually get Reserveage. They sell it on Amazon. It tastes really good too.

It definitely satisfies any sugar craving.

"He has cold after cold after cold."

If his Vitamin D is low, he'll get sick more often.
iHerb.com has a good deal on Vitamn D3 5000 mg...enough for a year for $12.

You need a high enough level of D for your body to use magnesium.
This will help your immune system and overall health.

Brewer's yeast and Epicor are useful for the immune system.
Scroll down to "Cold and Flu."

Yayy! [Smile]

Another good thing would be Boron 3 mg daily, as this helps keep the kidneys from filtering out too much magnesium from the bloodstream.

Is he eating magnesium rich foods?
Almonds, almond butter
Dark chocolate
Beans, baked beans, bean soup, kidney beans in chili con carne, bean burritoes.

It was odd, but way before I knew about the relationship between Lyme and magnesium, I noticed that I felt better when I ate beans.

I would even add a can of rinsed kidney beans to macaroni salad, which is delish.

When I found out about almonds being high in magnesium, I bought a pound every week at the grocery store, and snacked on them constantly.
After two months of this, I noticed that I stopped craving chocolate, haha.

A craving for chocolate is a symptom of low magnesium.

Good call, Carol! Boron is a goodie!

One of my favorite minerals.

I take something called Inno-Cal-Mag, which has a bit of Cal, mag, boron, phosphorus, in a flax oil base. I take with extra magnesium bisglyscinate.

Love it. Super easy on the stomach, even though the mag is the ozide kind-but low dose. The flax oil, D and C make the minerals easy on my belly.

Not affiliated and normally don't recomment anything with mag oxide, but love the flax oil base of this capsules.

They are bigger but slippery and don't get caught in my throat either.
