I was hoping to please get some input from you experts out there!

I am pretty new here, and still waiting for my Igenex test results.

About a month ago I had an experience with taking a course of Flagyl that makes me even more suspicious.

Within about 48 hours of starting the Flagyl, I had a pretty bad reaction. Basically I came down with a sudden, bad flu. High fever (between 102-103), very sore and achey, chills, sweats, congestion, you name it.

Then it went away, and for a day or so I just ran a low-grade fever on and off (about 99-100).

Then that all went away. I only had a 2 week course, finished it and nothing ever came of it. From what I have heard, this type of reaction is significant and maybe suggests Lyme?

I also recently received blood test results showing my C4a is high (6100) when the normal range is 0-2830. My C3a is normal though.

What should I take of this?

I've not even been clinically diagnosed but I am suspicious because of these things.

Any expert opinions out there? [Wink]

Yes, years after getting rid of lyme disease I got a case of C. diff and was given flagyl by the ER.

It made me sick as a dog. I discussed this with my lyme doctor in case it was lyme. He said that flagyl kills many, many things including viruses, parasites, etc. So, because of this, many people cannot tolerate what happens to them when they take flagyl.

I have a friend who was given flagyl (not for lyme) and stopped it after a few days because it made her so sick.

So, it could be evidence that you have lyme disease, or it could be evidence that you have parasites or other diseases that flagyl hits.

I was given flagyl in Africa about 30 years ago when I got diarrhea from swallowing some of the local water. So, I have first-hand experience that it kills intestinal parasites. (It didn't make me sick at all, by the way.)

It kills a lot. But, if you have symptoms of lyme it could turn out that your illness was due to the lyme being killed.

When I had C diff, flagyl made me so sick I thought I would die. I called the gastro's office and told them what was going on. They said it was normal and to push through, so I did.

Of course, you don't have C diff because you would know it if you did, but that was just to show you how flagyl can make people sick because it is killing something other than lyme.
