Hi All,

In another post I mentioned that I've started Levaquin for Bart and Bb. I'm herxing like crazy, but wondering if my emotional symptoms could be due to a Herx as well.

New physical symptoms include MUCH more pain overall, crazy itching all over (but no hives, swelling, or breathing difficulty), ears that are about to pop from pressure, sound sensitivity, decreased hearing, tinnitus, and insane itching and PAIN; and a need for at least 12 hours of sleep each night.

I do have anxiety that may or may not be Lyme induced, but it did come on soon after the tick bite and ring rash 17 years ago. New psyc symptoms since starting Levaquin include increased anxiety, irritability, depression, and much worse brain fog. My questions are: are these new psyc symtoms likely a Herx rxn?, how long will they last?, and has anyone else experienced something similar?

Thank you for any feedback!

Anxiety can be a big part of a herx.

Especially my bad Babs herxes.

I don't hesitate to take Xanax or some sort of Bezodiazapine when I have an anxiety realted herx. I've noticed that when I take the benzo it reduces my overall herx.

Later on when my herxes weren't as bad my anxiety lessoned.

Yes, these symptoms can be herxing. I've heard that vitamin C and lots of water can help.

So glad I found this thread. I started Levaquin 2 days ago for a sinus infection. That day, Monday, I actually felt so joyful, had more energy, and was just happy (my old self). Since yesterday I am back to anxiety and in a blah/dark place. Hoping it's "just" from Levaquin.

I do have Babs and Bart so maybe it's hitting those?

I do have some generic Xanax but how much do you guys take? I am a female about 134 lbs. My tablets are 1 mg.

Thanks!

I cannot tolerate Levaquin or Cipro. Bad reactions, especially neuro. Stop the medicine, and talk to your doctor about giving you a different one. It may be a reaction to the medicine, not a herx.

yes, yes and yes. I have tons of emotional symptoms which I thnk come from the mental , or psychiatric, issues.

anxiety- mine was so bad I used to carry a crucifix in my pocket all day asking Jesus to help me through each second!- all went away after my 2nd month on doxy!

I find myself almost euphoric one day or hour and sullen the next. that has gotten more noticeable from treatment.but not as bad as it was at all- so happy about that.

right now, after healing greatly, but still about 70% sick overall (I think, as it has been at least 20 yrs since I remember feeling "well"), I get intermittent emotions of:

depression
extreme empathy
giddiness
anger
numbness, or Depersonalization
fear
pushiness
chattiness
sad to the point of crying over nothing

and others I can't think of right now, I am sure

Be thankful in all things- even difficult times and sickness and trials - because there is something GOOD to be seen
