So if i had a blood test taken at my gp that was negative and had NO bands, is the possibility of lymes ruled out completely regardless of strains etc? Would i need at least 1?

No way to rule out Lyme from a negative test - the tests are too inaccurate for that. Must go by symptoms and response to treatment.
