My doctor (who is not a LLMD) agreed to test me for Lyme's disease after I explained the myriad symptoms I've been having. She ordered what she said was a screen for Lyme's disease. The results came back "nonreactive."

The results look like this:

Test
LYME IgG & IgM

Normal
10.6

Reference
<120 U/ml

Nonreactive: Antibody to B. burgdorferi not detected. If symptomology is suggestive of Lyme disease, repeat testing in 2-4 weeks.

Can anyone tell me what test this is and what the number 10.6 means? Intuitively it seems like any positive number in a test for antibodies would indicate that antibodies are present.

I have also posted in the forum seeking a LLMD in northern CA.

Thank you!

That was the worthless ELISA. The one that misses at least 60% of Lyme cases. By the way, if she is calling it Lyme's, that is PROOF that she knows NOTHING about it.

Why the ELISA is a junk test

Terrible test. My friend was misdiagnosed as NOT having Lyme from that test, HOWEVER her western blot was CDC positive.

She believed she didn't have Lyme because of her doctor's misinterpretation of the ELISA test. This delayed her treatment for 4 years.

Find another doc. There are plenty of good ones in northern California.
