my doc is adamant I go back on a statin. I have fatty liver disease and he said this will treat it.
I've never heard of this. have you?

Uh, I don't think so-
My H has non- alcoholic fatty liver, and is on statins, but on statins for heart disease-rampant in his family, despite exercise (although H could use a better diet for sure.)
And, he can't go up too high on the statins because then liver enzymes will go up- stress on the liver.
I could be wrong, but I've never heard of statins for fatty liver. Now, fatty liver very well seems to equal fatty arteries, and high cholesterol-

Yes, sounds right to me.
No alcohol (obvious I guess) and taking milk thistle.
My H is a big meat eater, and likes expensive cheeses. What can I do? I'm not his mommy.
But he does go to the gym 4x a week for hard cardio, and lifts weights. We use only coconut oil or olive oil.

Yeah, I have my opinions on statins, too. I just don't know tho- every day there are new reports one day they're good, one day they're bad.
In my H's family, immediate family, men have died in their 40's from heart disease, open heart surgeries, heart attacks.
Last year I dragged him to ER after he finally told me he'd been having chest pains for 2 days.
Thank God it wasn't a heart attack. All checked out.
Anyway, freaking myself out. I do what I can, but the man's his own man, God love him.

Furthermore Randi, everyone always thinks this is a men thing.
My 52 (!) year old sister had a heart attack 3 weeks ago! Had angioplasty too.
Ugh, this whole topic fills me with anxiety. Sorry.

my father, 1 aunt, his mother, and three brothers all died of heart attacks. mom's father died of black lung and her mother had a stroke.
my one sister has already had two angioplasties and she wasnt even 50.
my family history sucks.

Fatty Liver is not caused by cholesterol. It is caused by too much sugar.
Milk Thistle can help, as can Globe Artichoke. I used both to treat my own case of Fatty Liver (caused by TPN).

Yes, we rented the movie from Netflix, but I believe you can rent it online through Amazon.
It was really good- not preachy, down to earth, excellent to see from the heart transformation and change.
I don't have weight to lose, but green drinks with the fiber/ easy to digest will help me quite a bit, I am sure!
