I am on IV Recephin and Flagyl. I've been on the IV now for about 10 weeks and am having numbness in my feet and tingling now in my hands. Can anyone tell me if this is a good sign or something I should be worried about. I told my doctor and he said everyone is different and he couldn't really say. Has anyone had this symptom?

Sounds like the neuropathy that I had and is moving around. You shold call your doctor. I went off the Flagyl and it took 3 1/2 months to resolve the neuropathy, but mine became quite painful very quickly.

Yes, when I stand for very long making dinner my feet really hurt. Do you think this is killing the lyme? I will suffer with it if it's killing the lyme! Thanks!

Make sure you are getting sufficient B Complex, Magnesium and Vitamin C. These nutrients can help counter-act or prevent the neuropathy that can be caused by Flagyl.
Foot pain is often from Bartonella...I'm not sure if either Flagyl or Rocephin kill Bartonella, so it may be flaring up now that the Lyme is getting whacked back...
Make sure you have footwear that supports your feet correctly, and is sized properly for your specific feet.
Additionally, you might consider getting a rubberized mat to put on the floor in the kitchen that can help reduce stress on your feet from standing.

Thank you for all your responces! I called my lyme doctor and he told me to quit the Flagyl until my next visit on April 3. Thank you again!

I have left hand neuropathy still. Partial hand numbness and sensitivity (prickly tingling when fingers used or touched). Mostly heel of hand and last three fingers.
Any non-prescription suggestions would be appreciated.

What about incipient carpal tunnel? I only get the tingling in my right hand and esp when I overuse the mouse (which I do at home and work).

Discuss this symptomology with your doc AND a local *experienced* pharmacist. If it's believed the Flagyl could be responsible for your "neuropathy", you should ask your doc if Tindamax (tinidazole) might be a wise alternative to try. It has less side-effects, though it *is* pricier, I believe. And I "3rd" Razzle's recommends as to those "targeted supplements".

woodstock - I started to get the carpel tunnel indications before lyme infection, when I was doing substantial typing. I just learned to use a mouse with my left hand (right and left click), and my right hand got back to normal.
Now I have gone back to the right, as lyme hit my whole left shoulder, arm, and hand, and the partial left hand neuropathy is left. I can't feel the left hand keys well on 3 fingers, so make more typing mistakes.

I never took Flagyl and I am on no ABX. I just started with tons of tingling in arms and legs.
so what is that? I did read somewhere that tick disease can cause the tingling, but what exaclty causes it?
I told my llmd today and he says it might be from my spine out of whack?
I made an apt for later in the week.

Flagyl Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects: • numbness or tingling in your hands or feet; • white patches or sores inside your mouth or on your lips; • pain or burning when you urinate; • diarrhea that is watery or bloody; • vision problems, pain behind your eyes; • trouble concentrating, slurred speech, mood or behavior changes, tremors, muscle twitching, seizure (convulsions); • fever, chills, muscle pain, confusion, headache, sore throat, neck stiffness, increased sensitivity to light, drowsiness, nausea and vomiting; or • severe skin reaction -- fever, sore throat, swelling in your face or tongue, burning in your eyes, skin pain, followed by a red or purple skin rash that spreads (especially in the face or upper body) and causes blistering and peeling.

They can accrue anytime, but I think most people get them in the early stages. They can last weeks, months, and even years on in.

kayak , I just posted in the thread about retesting. that explains my situation a bit more.
the dr I see uses a similar system/treatment as Buhner.
my tingling is now also in my shoulder! up my neck. I really hate this.
it all started after I treated for Blastocystis.
