Any tips for relieving swollen lymph nodes in the neck?

I think I have a candida issue, and the lymph nodes in my neck feel so full, I feel like a hand is always around it.

I use heat and dry skin brush, but it doesn't seem to be enough. I also drink lemon water.

I have been on the candida diet for a few weeks, which I know can cause die off.

I'm scared to even take my Kolorex (anti-fungal supplement). If diet alone is causing this much discomfort, what will happen when I add anti-fungals?

I'd really appreciate any suggestions, as this is really starting to cause anxiety for me.

It may be the yeast related anxiety talking, but I am scared that it will get worse and worse until my throat eventually closes up and I can't breathe.

Thanks so much!

Are you sure it's not Bartonella?

I wouldn't think so....only because this isn't how I felt with Bartonella.

Babesia gave me shortness of breath, but that was more of a down in the chest thing.

This feels like it's located in the neck only. I can still get full breaths of air.

I searched and found molybdenum. Wondering if that's safe and effective?

This is just an idea - what about getting a lymph drainage massage with a massage person who knows how to do it, as an experiment to see how you feel? I've had several and while I didn't have swollen lymph glands in my neck, it made me feel better where I had been congested, like around my knees and ankles.

This is so very common…

Try applying a wet compress – washcloth dipped in hot water – and repeat

If you can take pain relievers try advil, ibuprofen etc.

And lots of rest is always good.

Robin - I would love to try that. I've read that some people get totally wiped out by the process, but I feel awful anyway....LOL. I'll see if I can find someone. Would it have to be a Lyme literate person?

Steve - Thank you for this suggestion! Knowing it's common makes me feel a little better. I'll do the wet/hot compresses tonight.

I just keep telling myself.....it's been weeks. I think my throat would have closed up by now if that was going to happen.

The herb red root can help with lymph drainage.
If you like homeopathic, the
Pekana Itires helps lymph flow.

While at the beginning of Bart treatment, I had a lump come up at the side of my neck.
Using a binder got it to go away (cholestrymine powder at the time.)

I felt like my lymph nodes were swollen too, even though the DR said she could feel nothing. I also had a sore throat for 8 months. My HHV6 was slightly elevated. I started taking the Byron White EB/HHV 6 herbs about 3 months ago and it all went away. I was also finishing up on my lyme relapse abx that I had been on since October. I think the BW formula really helped. I had been symptom free for 10 years before a tramatic event triggered it all.

My lymphnodes have gone down with treatment of infections.

Mine were huge. The one under my arm was the size of a baseball. It freaked out a doc I showed it to.

I have about 13 co-infections so I think the lymph nodes are just an indicator that something needs to be treated that's being missed.

Here are more things to test for:

And a weird thing.....

I seem to feel at least somewhat better when lying down.

I'll sleep comfortably, and literally the moment I sit up in the morning.....that feeling is back with a vengeance.

I also have a frequent post nasal drip, which I think might be causing throat irritation and maybe even some inflammation.

My lymph nodes were killing me for WEEKS until I started Welchol for mold.

Weirdest thing... one dose and the pain was gone! Hasn't come back since.

I've been wondering about parasites. Yuck....but if I've got them, I want to get rid of them.

Interesting about the mold treatment as well!

If I eat a meal with lots of garlic....bam!....that full/swollen feeling.

Treatment with antivirals is what helped mine. I had active EBV titers so high that the lab couldn't even measure them --- it just showed up as >800, if I recall....

Anyhow, once we had me on Valtrex, the lymph swelling cleared up. It hasn't really come back, even though I've been off the Valtrex for a long time now and my titers are pretty high again.

Is there a specific brand of red root tea that is really good, or will any do?

Phytolacca or cleavers tinctures help with lymph drainage. You can't take phytolacca if you're pregnant.

Thanks, Judie.

I'll look into them.

I just ate a garlicky dinner and instantly got that feeling again. Does garlic cause die off or something?

Hi. I am feeling this now on my left side. I feel as though it is muscular. Not actually my lymph nodes. (My dr didn't feel lymph nodes either) I too am better after resting my head... It's almost as if my neck is working too hard to hold up my head... But it feels like swollen glands, ear ache and neck ache all rolled into one. I have had this feeling spurred on in the past by abx that hit Bartonella, like rifampin, and septra.

I have been treating with massage and heat and ice. But the best is this Epsom salt lotion I get at CVS.

If I didn't feel better when I wake up in the morning I would suspect TMJ.

Hi, Kudzuslipper.

Does it ever feel like you have a lump in your neck/throat....like it's closing?

I called my LLMD today, but the office is closed due to a long holiday weekend.

Oooh...I think I might try that lotion. I've never heard of Epsom salt in lotion form.

I'm not on any Rx at the moment. I even stopped my anti-fungal supplement.

I am doing the candida diet, which I've learned is enough to starve the yeast causing die-off.

Heat helps me as well. But it just keeps happening. In the past, it only got this bad when I was treating the candida overgrowth with Rx antifungal.

This seems like a strong die-off reaction from diet alone, but who knows? It's just a scary symptom for me.

If it were aches....I would chalk it up to die-off and not worry. [Smile]

Red root helps me.

I used tincture, but would use tea if I needed red root again to avoid alcohol.

Also helps reduce appearance of cellulite. Not that it matters when lymph nodes look like golf balls, but bonuses like that I always welcome. Haha.

Found it quite gentle.

Hi mine does feel like there's a lump... But more towards my ear, not in my throat. My neck is cracking horribly when I stretch which makes me think structural or muscle. Obviously let your dr. Take a look and check it out. We're all different.

Seems like a lot of people get relief from red root. I'm researching to see if I can find a good brand (not sure if that matters).

Hopefully, I can get an appointment soon and get this figured out.

Tomorrow will be an epsom salt bath! I've only done 2 of those in the past, but I remember getting some relief.

I use poke root tinctures in water. Works great, but you have to make it yourself - you can't buy it. Make sure to do research on it before you embark on using it. Might want check with your doctor first. I'm sure he/she knows all about how it easily cleans out the lymph. [Wink]

http://kitchenwitch.typepad.com/my_weblog/2008/07/nymph-of-the-lymph--poke-root.html

By the way, if you do get a poke tincture be sure to use just a few drops in water. You'll want to know how well you tolerate it.

I found poke to be the most powerful remedy for slow lymph.
