Has anyone had the urine challenge test for lyme? My LLNP was telling me about it today. According to her you would take several different antibiotics for 5 days and then produce a urine sample to be tested.

I know of congenitally infected children who tested positive with this urine test (through Igenex.)

Lyme bacteria proteins in the urine.

--------------------
Lyme positive PCR blood, and
positive Bartonella henselae Igenex, 2011.
low positive Fry biofilm test, 2012.
Update 7/16- After extensive treatments,
doing okay!

My lyme doc had me do this test 8 years ago when I was thinking that perhaps lyme was coming back on me.

The test was negative. It turned out to be the start of menopause.

The way the test works is that the antibiotics kill lyme if it is present, and there will be evidence of that in the urine. If no evidence, then no lyme.

Yes. DS had this done. It supposedly is useful for people who test negative with the western blot but present like they have Lyme.

It tests for lyme antigens. DSs came back negative. He did three urine samples over the five days.

It was brutal, he herxed like crazy and came back negative.
