I'm just copying this post I did, for the ones interested in fixing their GI tract.

It's funny to see most of people with lyme will suffer from candida, sooner or later (or before lyme, like in my case, and after lyme!!). Virtually everyone will.

For what I've seen during the years reading lyment, everyone who suffers from chronic lyme have some gut problems.

What is the cause for what -- lyme causing gut problems, or gut problems causing lyme -- is THE question. I guess it could be both. Lyme will mess up with the gut for sure.

The most common gut problems are leaky gut, celiac, chron's, food allergies /intolerance, parasites, lack of good probiotic bacteria, infestation with pathogens, heavy metals and toxins. Bloating, loose stools / constipation, pain.

Lyme was for us not that hard to 'control'. Candida /fungi took me longer. My daughter had no candida, but she always had some food allergies, and her nails are still weak.

We always come back to departure point: the gut.

Somehow, gluten free diet is a good thing for us. We don't feel often hungry, easy to digest, and we feel more energy (without feeling 'excited', like after sugar).

Maybe gluten-free is as good as a sugar/ glucose free diet (we still eat fresh fruits, and love them!!).

Our lyme is dormant for years, but we are still trying to fix our guts. Our hope is this will prevent a series of diseases, including falling sick with lyme and candida again.

Just some thoughts for those still fighting chronic lyme or chronic candida...

If you have other ideas on what to do to fix the gut, I'd love to hear.

I totally agree w/ you. This is my struggle in living in an epidemic area where I keep getting re'bitten.

Get to a point of remission, then get bit, then re-treat w/ abx.s and further damage my gut.

The best I have felt over this 10 year period was when I was able to get off abx,s and work delegently on healing my gut of yeast, parasites, h.pylori, leaky gut ect....

I have been back on abx again for 2 new bites and within a few days my stomach is a mess again despite my best efforts with diet, herbs and nystatin/diflucan and of course high dose/high quality pro.s.

I would like to hear how people manage to continue healing their gut while still needing to be on abx.'s

SIBO and gastroparesis (slow stomach emptying) are also big problems for some people with Lyme.

Many also develop gallbladder problems and gallbladder removal can cause the inability to digest fats, as well as Bile acid diarrhoea/Bile Acid Malabsorption, in some.

Then there is the increased likelihood of reflux, acid reflux or bile reflux, gastritis etc. it is a real minefield!

Not to mention that Lyme can actually be IN your gut!

And after knowing that, how can any doc expect you to get well on orals??

Going GF, taking digestive enzymes, addressing SIBO (tricky dx), having abx delivered via IV are all necessary steps.

But the whole gut issue is so very, very complicated.

Desertwind,

I'm in endemic area too, and get bitten every single year, a couple of times. daughter and myself!

My daughter just got a bite some days ago (about 2 weeks now). I even took the tick with my nails off, as we were still out in the river, I had no tweezers. I know it's bad, but we're less afraid of tick bites now, after years without lyme.

We have 2 safety guns, so far, against new tick infections:

1) borrelia homeopathic nosodes LM6. We start taking them once a week before spring, then diminish the amount to once every two weeks until November or so.

The number of ticks that bite us, diminish drastically. I tested that with two cats, that were LOADED with ticks, and it CLEARLY helps after about 1-2 months.

I suspect that ticks infested with borrelia do not bite us, but other ticks still do.

It is very cheap, I only bought the medicine once in my life YEARS AGO, then never more, I still have it at home. We are using that for years now, and we get less bitten (and usually, a bite does not infect us anymore).

2) My borrelia nosodes in vials plus the photon machine. In case we get sick, I can still treat us fast.

It NEVER happened to fall sick again with lyme from a new bite, for years (since the homeopathics above).

But we still can catch other infections, sometimes. Like TBE, or bartonella, for example.

We NEVER take antibiotics, unless NOTHING else works. The damage to the gut is too big. I believe, the gut is one of the main causes of chronic lyme or other chronic diseases.

After the tick bite, we keep testing it to see if there was any infection. If not, I just use peppermint oil, a bit of garlic on top of bite, that's it.

you can't get cool and confident with anything, unless you are years trying and it is still working. I keep telling people about these nosodes, suggested by my own lyme doc, but no one really takes them. It is really, a great protection.

Carry, yes, gallbladder, sooner or later, many will get pains there, many go to surgery... I also had pains, I just used ART to treat it, but it was annoying during lyme.

After lyme, my liver / gall bladder were not in great condition, as I still had candida on and off, but now it's fine. I wonder if it is the coffee, or the MMS, or still ART that keeps these organs fine...

I wonder if the idea of parasites climbing up the vessels till the gall bladder / liver is not true...

Reflux: more and more people have this, with or WITHOUT lyme. I keep wondering what is this all about.... Parasites? Toxins? infections'

Beaches, yes of course, our guts are machines to raise the good and bad bacteria. Lyme is happily fed there, and so are most bacteria!!

We get food from our gut, so THEY do.

but anyway, we are a soup of living beings, we have always been. That is how we evolved.

The question is, why is that the soup is getting pathogenic, and not healthy for us, the hosts?

Anuta had an interesting post about dr. K's ideas of parasites in the gut being THE cause for: allergies, chronic lyme, chronic candida.

Well, if that is even a BIT true, I guess we have a clue for a way to prevent these diseases (and treat them). So dr. K does imply that the cause for all that is in the gut and it is called PARASITISM!

I see people getting bitten by ticks around me, all the time. My neighbors are bitten every year, probably since their birth!

The couple that lived in the house I rent, died after 90 years old, still living practically by themselves, without help! Walking, shopping, cooking, not sick with lyme.

There must be a reason that is not BACTERIAL INFECTION that causes chronic lyme. My guess is that it has to do with our gut health!

I've come to the conclusion that the gut is a major factor in keeping lyme or cos functioning. Now that my memory is working better, I know that my gut is attacked every few weeks and there is always some pain there. I was getting worried about my organs.

I looked on earth clinic and saw that one guy said he healed something to do with his gut (can't remember) by using aloe vera juice and papaya. You're to use about 2 ounces of the juice about 20 minutes before meals.

I've been taking a.v. juice and papaya juice (I suspect a real papaya is preferable) for a few days and my gut pain is gone. The last attack was so bad that I decided to eat only twice a day, a bowl of cereal in the morning and a larger meal in late afternoon.

I have had some anal irritation so I'm following more advice from the same site. It says that some parasites leave the anus at night to lay eggs and if you put petroleum jelly in that area, they will be unable to reproduce. Their life cycle is 36 days. I'm doing that and it seems to be resolving that issue. We'll see.

Also, I've started coffee enemas. At least they give me a lot of energy.

Needless to say, I've started a full intestinal effort. We'll see what happens when I am due for another intestinal attack. They happen when I am starting to feel better and I think it is part of the germ warfare to keep our immune system, most of which is in the gut, disabled so they can continue to exist and thrive.

Having read more about bacteria, they are very smart and operate in conjunction, like an organized army. They also have some cooperation with other species, swapping DNA strands. We need to be smarter than they are.

Since STOPPING all abx-my guts have taken a nose dive.

I continued with probiotics, still eat GF and low carb.

The pains in my stomach is so bad it keeps me awake at night.

Don't know where to go from this point.

Greta, the ONLY thing that helped my more than 2 decade long tummy ache was chlorella. And by accident. I was taking chlorella only for heavy metal detox, according to dr. K.

Well, chlorella did the job that nothing else did. Either it balanced the flora, or it cleaned heavy metals in my tummy or gut, or I don't know what.

If I stay without chlorella for about 4-6 months, the pain comes back.

I know another person who has burning stomach, and he takes chlorella for more than a year now. He stopped and after about 6 months, the pain returned. He is back on chlorella now, again, his problem disappeared.

Had I known that before, I would have taken chlorella my whole life. I lived 24/24/7 days a week with pain, for about 25 years.
------------

Lymennolite,

I guess your memory is working too because of coffee enemas. Once you clean your body, everything works better.

for me, my magic plant was chlorella. I could almost have a normal life with it, during lyme.

I love papaya, the fruit. But I can't stand aloe vera, it causes me tummy pains (at least in the past).

I would also start chlorella, if I were you. But of course, if problems are parasites, you gotta maybe try the MMS enemas too??

Where did you get your enema kit? I'm thinking to buy one.

Thanks!
