With my insurance I can get 3 pills of Lyrica per day regardless of dosage.
Does anyone know of an easy and quick way of opening and dividing a capsule? Every method I find on the internet looks so time consuming.

It takes a little time if you open the pills and divide them by two. Try using scissors, or a sharp razor blade.
Cover the 2nd half with tinfoil for later.

Did you buy some empty capsules? I use veggie caps to replace some capsules that are colored. I seem to be sensitive to the dyes.
So I carefully open the capsules and then pour the contents into a new capsule.
To remove half, you may want to use a small medicine bottle to pour some into? Then try to put half of it into a new capsule?

- 1. First, find out if the contents are of equal distribution. Some capsules are layered inside but the color may be the same. Different parts of the medicine can be in different places, or fillers, even.
So, go to the mfg. website, even call them to see if the powder inside is all equal.
2. Does any substitute capsule need to ENTERIC COATED? If so, this is really important to save stomach tissue, even esophagus for those meds that are irritating to mucosal membrane.
3. Then, find out if any gets out if it could irritate your skin, or mouth. That way you know just how careful you have to be with residue as you fill up empty capsules.
4. If not an irritant to mouth / throat tissue, You could ask if you could dissolve the capsule contents into a little bit of cooled boiled water in a very clean little glass dropper bottle?
If so, Then you could figure out from now much the total liquid would be to the daily dose in terms of drop or full droppers.
Ask how many days it would be safe to keep either in fridge or on counter (and consider heat of summer).
Rather than water, would it dissolve in some good almond oil? That might be easier to measure out in a dropper bottle. -

The Lyrica capsules are packed full such that when I open them some of the contents spill out. I do have empty capsules but the content spillage made them really difficult and time consuming to use.
After reading everyone's posts though it occurred to me that I could open the capsule over water , estimate half or quarter, and then close the capsule back up for later use.
I looked on the internet and found it can be dissolved in water.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions.
