- Absolutely, increased salt intake can cause tachycdardia.
IMO, a herx should never cause the heart rate to go bonkers - unless there is an imbalance going on from treatment or lack of good liver / kidney support and nutrients.
The main question is what kind of salt, the brand, the purity . . . and how MUCH?
If the dose is a little too much, back down on the good quality SEA SALT. Go back to a normal daily amount for a normal person.
For many with lyme, a little more is needed to help with POTS & NMH but that may still be under the amount for those doing the salt/C protocol.
And that just might not work for everyone, even if they follow the guidelines perfectly, if there is an increase or irregularity in heart rate, back down and see if that helps. It will at least help your sort out the cause / trigger.
Be sure the Vitamin C does not contain any additives or flavorings. Same with ANYTHING else you are taking. Be sure nothing is too stimulation or contains glutamate / glutamine added. That can irritate the heart in those with neuro issues.
MAGNESIUM is very important to have on board, too.
Other minerals need to remain in a delicate balance with each other when any kind of sodium tips the scales. You could be low in magnesium.
Be sure to see what Gael says about all this (she is glm111). -
