I have not seen too much on here about Anaplasmosis, AKA Erlichia. I would love to hear from anyone that is treating it and what you are doing. I just came across this site so I am new! I have been sick for at least 12 years, but only diagnosed a year ago with Anaplasmosis and Mycoplasma. Just a few weeks ago I was also positive for Lymes.

I believe the standard treatment for it is doxycycline. Which makes it tricky in the summer because of the sun sensitivity doxy can cause.

Do you have an LLMD or LLND? For any kind of chronic infection, it is best to see an ILADS trained doc.

When it is chronic, I don't know. I'm assuming a combination of antibiotics. There is a few people on here who have chronic anaplasma/erlichia. Hopefully they will chime in soon.

My doc treated it with high dose doxycycline. I had Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever also, so I got a two-for-one with the doxycycline. Then three more oral antibiotics were added.

Mycoplasma is a tougher one to treat. Buhner's book explains why mycoplasma is so tough.

Garth Nicholson is the doc in the states who knows the most about mycoplasma.

If both are chronic, then both will be long term treatment regimens.

We need another option besides Doxy for this. I can't take Doxy...the side-effects have always caused me too much trouble (attempt 1 = severe gut wrenching obstinate constipation; attempt 2 = constant vertigo that has not stopped yet).

What else works on Anaplasma besides Doxy?

Thanks.

GretaM what is a LLND and a ILADS? Some of these terms are new to me [Smile]

I have taken 2 different regimens of Doxy. Both for a month along with herbal support.
Now I am taking Plaquenil, Zithromax, and Augmentin along with herbal.

I have also done 8 IV vit C treatments and that did boost my energy, but it is still a problem.

Maine CDC guideline for Anaplasma is doxycycline followed by Ceftin.
