my nose, eyes, and outer vaginal area is so dry.

I'm constantly using eye drops, nasal saline solutions.

I looked for something for external vaginal dryness but didn't find anything.

are there any good products out there? seems I've bought them all.

When I had lyme, I had extremely dry eye, mouth, and vagina.

For the eye, the eye doctor wanted to put plugs in my tear drains or burn them shut.

For the mouth, my dentist had to give me a special mouthwash. It is bad for the teeth to have a very dry mouth and can lead to cavities.

The gyn saw my vaginal atrophy. He gave me Vagifem which is an estrogen pill that is inserted into the vagina. The estrogen dissolves in the vagina and, over a number of months, brings that tissue back to normal.

My case was very severe. I could not stand to wear jeans, pants, pantihose, or anything that touched my crotch. After an initial treatment, you can use the Vagifem on a maintenance schedule.

When I got good lyme treatment, all of these dry mucous membranes went back to normal.

The Vagifem is the best product for vaginal atrophy. Don't let the doc give you any of the estrogen creams. They are so messy. They melt inside of you and pour out on your underwear all day long.

With the Vagifem pill, this does not happen.

sounds like a prescription right? the doc did want me to go back on hormones but I'm 65 and don't think I need premarin pills. besides I won't take them because of how they treat the horses. no way..

I don't think it's internal but seems to be outside. burns when I go pee and just generally hurts. I have to wear as poise pad because of bladder incontinence and I'm sure that aggravates it but I ain't having bladder repair.

he said women with lyme need hormones.

It is a prescription, but it is not the same as going on hormone replacement. It is placing a very small amount of estrogen locally.

I know that the outside is dry, but the cause is lack of estrogen in the vaginal area overall.

Horses are not involved in Vagifem. My lyme doc would never give premarin pills to anyone and thinks it is an outdated, behind-the-times treatment that needs to stop.

Lyme does affect our hormones. So, even at 65 you need this little bit of estrogen in the vagina. It does not go throughout your body. It will not give you mood changes or anything.

When you have vaginal dryness, which you have, the poise pad or ANYTHING that touches your crotch will affect you. Get that fixed and see the difference.

First, check all meds and over the counter products. Many cause dry mouth. If they cause dry mouth, they will also dry up other mucous membrane / tissue in the body.
