Big one in my reading eye - i have Lasik monovision, so one eye is for distance the other for near .... opthamologist yesterday told me i have to have surgery - and i want it if it is going to restore my right eye so that i can read again without problems
curious tho if i might see side effects after or worse eye sight?

Sorry, can't answer your question. I have been putting this off because of fears that it might activate lyme, or rather make it more active. We know lyme hangs out in the eye too.
Might be interested to know about a study that found a higher than normal rate of cataracts in people with lyme disease.

In 2010 I reluctantly had cataract surgery for my left eye, the only eye with a cataract. It also happened to be the left side of my face that was affected almost immediately after a tick bite on my left arm. Within days the pain behind the left eye was excruciating, and my doctor was convinced it was due to sinus infection. I felt it was related to the bug bite (i didn't see the tick but had a bull's eye rash at the site of the bite three weeks later)
For the next six years, the dull headache behind the left eye remained, as well new as classic lyme symptoms intermittently showing up. My doc steadfastly claimed that the Elisa was negative, because it was only "equivocal", Finally, (after I had said again and again I would pay to have another test at a different lab) he came in saying "surprise, you really do have lyme disease."
So when the cataract developed to the point of needing cataract surgery (20 years later) my neuro ophthalmologist, recommended by my LLMD said surgery shouldn't be a problem, and that the damage to the eye was possibly due to inadequate protection from the sun while on abx. (Of course he could not tell me why the other eye was not affected!)
As I had previously had iritis in that eye, and experienced a big jump in symptoms after the prednisone drops to treat iritis, I did question how long I had to take the prednisone drops with cataract surgery. My surgeon and my LLMD felt that would not be a problem, but for me it was. So I would suggest that you ask to have as little prednisone as possible, for as little time as possible. Because my follow up appointment was delayed, I had to stay on the drops longer than originally planned.
I still have eye aches intermittently in both eyes now, but I also still test positive for lyme, and the last few years for babesiosis as well, in spite of finally getting extensive treatment. Still no cataract in right eye though.
Good luck. Many people have had no problems, so I must be especially sensitive to prednisone. Still, less I am sure is better!

OMG, that is scary!! I have been avoiding any surgery to the eye to correct my vision, as the downsides, if you have them, are not reversible. Plus, I have been told that my depth perception is not good, so mono-vision would not be good for me.
However, I have wanted to do blepharoplasty, because my eye lids have fallen down so much that it looks horrible, and interferes with my vision. Surely, it's due to the effect of Bb, etc. on the connective tissue (my connective tissues are horrible).
But this . . . is really scary.
When I had a thorough testing at a major eye institute, due to all my eye issues, the doctor showd me pictures of my retinas & rest of the eyes which are filled with black lesions from Lyme!!! Boy, was I surprised that he understood this.
He thought that it was old damage that wasn't affecting me functionally. However, I disagree with that part. Arghhh!
