I've had issues with my right sinus for years. tried a neti pot w/ sea salt a couple years ago and got a big sinus flare, which took over a week to settle( so didn't try that again)

Having some shoulder issues now, so tried to wash my hair with my head upside down, and must have gotten a tiny bit of water or mist up there. Now having another flare of sinus symptoms going on a few days( not as bad as w/neti pot)

Just wondering if this points more towards mold or yeast in my sinus?

thanks, diana

I think it's just that water does not belong in your nose. I came to this conclusion for myself with a neti pot - even with sterile water. It really, really burns.

I accidentally got water in my sinuses just last week (guess I tried to breathe water up from my throat as I was swallowing a drink of water . . . it happens sometimes that I forget how to swallow and it just goes up the nose) . . . and it burned so much.

The tissue, itself, is likely inflamed (for any number of reasons). I put a good salve inside and that helps. But no more liquid shooting up. Not for me.

HERB PHARM Original Salve - or Mountain Rose Herbs Goldenseal Myrrh salve

&

and SEAGATE Olive Leaf Extract capsules to cover various causes (Only SEAGATE brand . . . and their nasal spray may help but it burns me so I just don't use it).

I agree with Keebler. I tried a neti pot severaltimes in the past and even with sterile water ended up with a nasty sinus infection and very ill. I wouldn't say it points to anything in particular just that its probably best not to be putting anything up your nose.

Not supposed to use plain water - should use saline in the netti pot...otherwise, yes, it will burn.

Razzle,

Even with saline, carefully measured, it would burn me terribly.

Maybe (?) your point is that water will burn anyone's nose and that saline may keep it from burning . . . not to be too concerned if the water burns especially since these instances happen so infrequently and are not intentional ?

I have heard someone say adding a top grade glycerine to the mix can make the difference (but then that can be from corn or other unidentified ingredients).

I have heard many say the neti pot (with saline and sterile water) works wonders for them. Still, I prefer to get my nose to let go in other ways.

My symptoms are more of a pressure, like something is expanding in there. Guess i'll have to find another way to wash my hair, or get a nose plug that swimmers sometimes wear. No more water in the nose for me.

Yes - I was told by my Allergist that plain water in the nose will always burn, and thus why saline is recommended instead.

Yeah, I agree there are more pleasant ways to "unclog" the sinuses. I like to use Fenugreek & Thyme (herbs/tea taken internally), or carefully put a little Thieves oil topically over my sinuses & nose...

Be sure to use distilled water with salt and perhaps some baking soda.
