I think it will be helpful when people are shopping for insurance to be able to ask if certain drugs are on the formulary, especially the expensive ones.
For me, these weren't covered this year:
Bicillin ($750-$1000 per month) Rocephin ($100 per month)
What other drugs have been expensive for you?
I hear Rifampin is expensive, but I've never had to pay for it out of pocket.

hmmm, I know its not lyme related but my sister has severe rheumatoid arthritis. she's on iv and some others. her iv drug is 4 yes 4 grand a month and her insurance will only pay a small amount on the orecia and others.
I don't see how she makes it.

I thought they recently came out with generic Mepron?
They recently came out with generic Lunesta (sleeping pill).

my doxy was about $400 a month. Luckily I had a reduced cost with a medicaid card I got years ago that brought it down a little.

Mepron is crazy expensive. I never did ask the price but when I did take it you could see the pharmacy attendants eyes get real big when they looked at it. Every time they said it must be nice to have real good insurance. I head it was between $1500 and $2000 for a months supply.
I just started Bicillin and it is about $80 a shot.
Insurance only left me on the hook for $120 a prescription.
I am sure there are many others but these are the two I have had experience with.

Mycobutin (rifabutin) - my insurance covers it for now, but I've noticed the insurance is paying over $1700 for a month supply... and that dosage is about to double. I'm sure I'll quickly hit insurance caps at that price...
GretaM - FWIW, I swear the cheaper alternative seemed to actually work better for me. I wonder if the paste is more bioavailable.
