thinking today.....
I am having a hard time making important and unimportant decisions.
I jsut realized that I have pretty much always been this way since I can rememeber- maybe like mostly in my mid 20s- which I am now thinking was when I may have first gotten lyme or other tick disease.
I remember battling decisions to the point of tears- even stupid ones like what food to pick off menus, or what clothes to put on!
it was really bad for years, got a bit better and now I am noticing it again in a way that makes my daily life harder than I want it to be.
what the heck is this? is it mental? like non disease related? or, can this be from the diseases?
this past week especially I am having a hard time. I am under a lot of stress right now, maybe that making it worse, but I was thinking to see if anyone here has trouble iwth this also and what , if anything , I can suppliment with to help, or is it all in my head!?

It is the disease. It can interfere with Executive Function, and decision-making is part of that.
I have a lot of problems with Executive Function. Sometimes it can lead to all sorts of important things getting left un-done or done too late...such as taxes, or paying bills. It sux.
Wish I knew how to improve it, but I don't have a clue except keep on treating the bugs...maybe it'll pass once certain bugs (especially Lyme & Bartonella) are beaten down...

Still taking that magnesium? I'd be willing to bet that you are low in MOST, if not ALL minerals.
You might also ask your Dr about Vit B12 shots.

yes, taking it lymetoo! I keep hearing you in my head, haha.
I thnk I need more than that though. maybe B is right, but my body has a terrible time absorbing Bs. And I got one shot when I was first dx and I really felt nothing at all from it. so I didn't think it was worth persuing?
I was just reading more about minerals today earlier and a light bulb did go off in my head. how do I know if or what minerals I need?

Most of the general public NEEDS all minerals. I do not take calcium as it depletes mag .. keeping mag levels up will take care of most problems.

I notice that from the "fog" of course but it got much worse with each head injury i had. I think it is understood that bb will attack where you have a weakness and the LL docs i talked to say the combo of bb and head injury is bad...thet each make the other one worse. Neuro psycs say its hard to figure out what caused what impairment in my brain...but there is no question its impaired! Ha ha...gotta laugh at it
Anyone who reads my posts over time...especially when i am struggling with stuff can see one of my main problems is day to day decisions
It helps me to do whatever i have to do to m as ke the decusuon and then turn it into a habit...like i have certain sets of clothes for garden days, or in the house days etc.
I have major priblems now with multi tasking and quick decisionmaking....in the past that is all i did...super: mom, teacher, wife, horse person...something always required quick decision...now i often sound wierd cuz i cant decide which word to use
Anyway...i found info that helped me organuze life and decision making at sites that help brain damaged ppl
Bb can damage the brain so many of their stratigue. Work...it also helps to pretend i am a five yo...thats about my speed many days
And for the record i have masters plus 60 grad credits
Once a psychiatrist(he was a retired friend) told me...because he saw my frustration at functuoning so low cimpared to where i had been...he said:
Intelligent ppl with minor brain injury...have a much harder time dealing wit it than less intelligent ppl who have a more serious brain injury
The more intelligent person is more aware of their deficis and it upsets them more
I read about a wall sreet biggie(a woman) who had minor brain
damage who felt her biggest problem was not being able to
organize her closet
This brain fog...its a major disability

kayak, that is funny - five yo. I do that sometimes too.
so that is what brain fog is? now I know!
I will keep up the mag. I hope I don't over take it.
I just had a mochatonic drink my friend gave me to try. it's for mental alertness and has vit and min in it as well as green tea extract, amino acids and other stuff. it seems like it helped. I feel more able to do something right now.
I know I don't get enough nutrients. my diet bad in the way that I eat the same things over and over. gotta get outa that rut!

I have this problem too. Then, I get more stressed because things pile up! Haha.
I had no idea that this could be Lyme related. Great question.

Oh this is soooooo me.
Super frustrating. I can't tell whether I'm stalled in life due to my symptoms or my inability to decide what to do next, then actually do it. But, of course, this is a symptom, too.
Ugh. Life goes on while I just sit here trying to make up my mind.

Definitely the illness - it affects our brain. Can you think of any modifications, like discussing decisions with others who are supportive allies? Or writing down your thoughts and giving yourself some time to think about things and not rush into making a decision?
For helpful supplements, I suggest drinking liquid minerals, the kinds where it says it contains 72 minerals from the Utah seabeds.
I also feel better when I drink kombucha, a fermented tea drink - I've been watching the digestive series, and they said it boosts our energy by giving us B vitamins. Also helps detox the liver.
I think turmeric is treating my brain - brain inflam marker is going down steadily. The only other anti-inflam I also do everyday is mangosteen juice.
I'd say try experimenting with natural anti-inflams to lower your brain inflammation. Other good anti-inflam supplements include noni juice, grapeseed extract capsules, boswellia and papain.

Boy can I identify. On days when the fogginess fades, it is much easier.
Lyme and co's diffinitly cause this, but don't forget yeast overgrowth. So easy to overlook yeast when all the focus in on the tick illnesses.

boxermom, haha, yes, the world goes on a lot without me!
Robin, great suggestions. I do some already, and I drink the kombucha tea- had no idea it helps with this. I may have to take more often!
liquid minerals sound very interesting. I will have to try and find some
Rivendell , I am glad you brought up yeast. I have been tested for this several times and it comes up neg. different tests too. I am perplexed becasue I have so many sx of this. could something else give same sx as yeast???

Those are all very good ideas. I like ReLyte for minerals but the important thing is to take SOMETHING!

I have had a real turnaround in motivation levels this summer. This is significant because I have had lyme for about 7 years and had low motivation. These are the changes that were made:
1-started Babesia (malarone & artemesinin) treatment at the end of April. 2-started taking methylfolate - low dose with sublingual hydroxycobalamin (b-12) in June. (will say that I take a very, very, very low dose of the methylfolate and have to be loaded up on hydroxy b-12 before using the 5mthf because I got severe muscle pain, cramps just taking it on its own) 3- Sun (Vitamin D raises Dopamine - dopamine causes motivation)
So those are three things that could have all contributed.
Best!
