I've been okay taking doxy except once i almost threw up because i only ate some fruit with it.

But a few weeks in i notice i now hace no appetite. I feel nauseous a lot like i used to before abx but now its super hard for me to eat, its like i have to force myself. And i get that nausea having to burp feeling. Could this be the meds working or the meds itself? I was thinking maybe it's nerves from stress lately but i do not think so

I've heard doxy is notorious for nausea. Maybe you could try another abx. Minocycline is similar but does not seem to cause nausea as much as doxy.

It's really rough stuff. You really could switch after awhile. Just ask your Dr!

What i have noticed is the bigger meal i eat the less likely i am to get really nauseous. But lately its hard for me to eat anything at all, i now have no appetite

I had about two pieces of sushi and then a piece of toast mostly eaten before taking the doxy. Then i got the feeling that something was going to come up and i'd vomit but i didn't [Frown]

I really hate nausea and can't stand throwing up. Any recommendations

I didn't know it at the time I took doxy (and HATED it because it made me feel so sick), but there is a variaton of this drug that is less likely to cause nausea. It is doxyclene hyclate or doryx.

http://www.doryx.com/

I am pretty sure it is more expensive than the regular type of doxy but it might be worth investigating.

You need to eat something substantial when you take Doxy. Try taking it in the middle of the meal. Make sure you drink a full glass of water with it every time you take it. Don't lay down for at least an hour after taking it or you can ulcerate your esophagus.

Ginger capsules and papaya tablets can help with nausea. Both are inexpensive and most healthfood stores have them. I hope something helps you soon, nausea is terrible.

Hey Kaseyyy, everyone has seemed to cover most of the direct issues with digestion issues with doxy (or any antibiotics) but I did not see anyone mention yeast. Antibiotics can cause intestinal yeast also and create a whole world of digestive and cognitive affects also (how fun right, like we need more symptoms) I have had it several times and never take antibiotics without a antifungal(yeast). You might want to ask you doctor about it.

I used to feel the same-extremely nauseated all the time with no appetite. In fact, I threw up on the doxy. At times, I almost did.

I seem to experience nausea less often now. Hopefully, you will too.

Stay on top of your detox. That helps me a lot. Also, you might try some ginger tea.

Like others have said, taking it in the middle of a big meal was best for me. I would eat half my meal, take a giant mouthful of food, then swallow the doxy, smushed in the middle of that mouthful, before finishing my meal.

Doing that kept me slightly ahead of the nausea.

I will say this though -- my gut got wrecked by all the abx. Devastated. And, looking back, I think it would have been much better to stay away from any abx that even hinted at trouble.

No one realizes how bad it can become until it is too late. I know I certainly didn't. Once my gut went bad, everything went bad. First slowly, then fast, like a snowball down a mountain.
