Ive always wondered if my high ferritin levels were caused by babesia! I found it confusing at first because most people report babesia can lower ferritin.
Buhner mentiones in his co-infection book (page 335) that bartonella also causes additional production of ferritin, so i wasnt sure if that could also add to the problem.
My ferritin levels are around 700-800ug/L (normal range 20-300ug/L) when im not taking abx.

Yes, but what about people with hemochromatosis or who are carriers?

I think ferritin because it is acute phase reactant is an indication of inflammation or infection.
