Okay, cutting to the chase...

I flew out to see my Lyme doctor this week. The flight out there went fine. I actually enjoy flying.

On my flight home, while ascending and descending, I had what I believe to be ym worse panic attacks to date.

I had chest pain, took my breath away. Sweating, nausea, dizzy, light headedness, the whole kit & kaboodle. Of course I thought heat attack and cursed that this thought probably was making things worse. But once the plane reached altitude or landed, the chest pain stopped.

Figuring it was probably a panic attack, I did the slow, controlled breathing, exhaling fully before slowly inhaling, ect.

I always wondered why people that ended up in the ER thought heart attack when the docs told them panic attack as final diagnosis. I figured I'd signal to the steward if the pain didn't get better soonish or when we landed and couldn't stand up.

All I could find on the internet was the fact that cabin pressure is usually maintained at 8000ft above sea level per company regulations. Good enough for healthy people. Perhaps not good enough for some of us more medically challenged. Of course the airlines don't tell you this, because they want your money and say that we should be responsible for our health however, they are not to be held responsible for failing to impart critical information. BTW,decreased cabin pressure uses more fuel to maintain; costing airlines money.

So I am thinking that maybe the cabin pressure was off. Delta that I flew out to DC DC, have fatter/bigger planes and I have never had chest pains flying with them. Suncountry have smaller, narrower planes by my visual observation watching them on the runways.

So, has anyone else had panic attacks while flying? Especially when they are climbing to altitude or descending?

Anyone had panic attacks so bad you thought you were having a heart attack due to the painful pressure in your chest while on land?

worried about flying in the future and if this is going to be an ongoing feature in my psychological and/or physical health.

The homeopathic remedy for that moment "panic attacks so bad you thought you were having a heart attack " is homeopathic Aconitum napellus. It can be found at the health food store. I would pick the potency of 30c over a 6c. It comes in higher potencies that you can get through a homeopath if needed.
