I have a uti. dr gave bactrim. I am allergic to sulfa!!! i cut it in half at 11, took another half at 5. then all hell broke loose. we were in the middle of a severe storm with 80-90 mph winds and heavy rain. could not get out. husband is gone. well I started getting short of breath, then blurry vision. then blood pressure went to 191, yes, 191 over 110. I was in full blown panic attack then. I stayed up until one with bp finally going down to 165. I was so exhausted I went to sleep. did not take it this morning and bp is down to 105 over 68. I'm still jittery and a little short of breath. called dr's office and they have no one on call and I cannot afford er. herx or allergy? scared me death. pharmacist said they will flag allergy. i cannot take any abx without major problems. I can take flagyl, biaxin, thats about it. dr is frustrated. is there anything i can take. he was pushing levaquin and I said no. -------------------- do not look back when the only course is forward

I have bactrim allergy and break out in hives as soon as its in my mouth In the past when it happened a pharmasist had me take double dose of benedryl Im not sayyingg you should do that but you do need to take the possibility of allergy seriously. It can go from hives and itching to not breathing really fast I had anaphalactic shock once and didnt even know what happened til i woke up. If i was alone i would have died. I was in doctors office at the time -------------------- Lyme? Its complicated. Educate yourself.

I don't know if it would help, but Buhner in his book, Herbal Antibiotics recommends juniper, Uva ursi, eucalyptus, goldenseal or cranberry for uti's.
